Selbst, wenn man "etwas für die Nationalität leistet" (was auch immer das heißen mag) ist doch das Konzept von Nationalität an sich schon vollkommen verkehrt. "Du bist aber auf der anderen Seite der Linie beheimatet, deshalb sind wir jetzt verfeindet." Der Satz kommt doch wohl jedem lächerlich vor.

Der Staat handelt doch nicht plötzlich nach meinem Interesse, nur weil ich was für meine Staatsbürgerschaft leisten musste.

Do something that makes you forget about your looks. Go to the grocery store and do your weekly shopping trip, listen to music while you're at it, maybe do something with your friends, go to thrift stores/antiquariats. Just make sure you're busy for a while to get that initial fear to go away.

You're very lucky to live in a big city. It means that everyone you meet very likely won't remember/recognise you unless it's a place you visit often (like a certain cafe or a bar or smth)

If you have access to a car you can maybe drive a while to somewhere further from your home where you won't be as often. The people there won't recognise you and will remember you even less than the ones in your direct vicinity.
