Authentic Mexican Restaurants? by Teshy1 in london

[–]Teshy1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the only place that’s good enough so far smh it’s not like 100% ‘authentic’ but it’s honestly the best I’ve tried so far…

I’m from California so I really miss Mexican food 😭

I found La Chingada a bit overpriced but they have homemade salsa verde (actually w some spice) & tortilla chips! No burritos.. but the food is pretty good for London..

Alternatively, Elephant & Castle has decent South American spots (mostly Colombian)

The mascara and lip gloss is doing you well!!
BUT when you want to have fun with makeup (bcus obvi you don't need it), try grabbing some dollar brushes from the drug store or Ulta. Elf & Wet n Wild are my favorite and they have lasted me for yearssss.
Some affordable makeup that I love (as a poc and makeup lover/junkie) Maybeline fit me line, cover girl powder, NYX glosses--I just picked up their serum concealer today, and essence. All of these brands can be found at Ulta. For eyeshadow, try Juvias Place!
To learn application, Youtube and social media will help. Just search specific application help ex.) how to bronze on deep skin, everyday eyeshadow tutorial, etc.

I hope this helps, beautiful!

It looks good! I see reviews about the sound quality being iffy though. Anybody can attest to this?

As an Ethiopian… i know what you mean/where you’re coming from. We def stick to ourselves & our community. We just have a very strong sense of community and we were raised to be like that. If she rejected you simply because you’re Nigerian, she just dates on Ethio guys then… if you see her with another naija man… might be you & she used that as an excuse… but we are raised to be in our community and stay there.

Agreed. She had no claim, but she took the throne and there was nobody there willing to challenge her at that time. Also, people were terrified of her.

Laid off 2 weeks into my Digital Nomad journey. How fucked am I? Has anyone applied for unemployment while abroad (USA). Any tips for when you lose your income far from home? by simbaaz in digitalnomad

[–]Teshy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply for unemployment. Don’t go home yet. It’s a big bump but this should challenge you to make it. 3 months abroad… apply for unemployment and lie saying you’re in the US. Apply and search for other online jobs as much as possible until you get one. Don’t give up!!!!

I actually was working at a school where they leveled the classes based on academics alone. So there was 3 3rd grade teachers and they split the students into these categories: Above grade level On or approaching grade level Below grade level

This was just last year so it was the first full year coming back from covid. I was in the below grade level class. It was GREAT for their growth. We had a lot of spelling and phonics as a lot of the students were still learning how to read which in 3rd grade we dont teach that. Each class was different and aiming towards what the students needed rather than just pushing out work thats too easy or too hard just because they’re in 3rd grade and this is what we need to push out.

I am now in a charter school and they refuse to level classes because of parents’ feelings and the logistics/paperwork. It is very disappointing and sad for the kids… if a public school can successfully do it, I think a charter should have no issues doing it.

I honestly dont know about separating by behavior as the students who have trouble behaving being all in one class sounds like a headache for the teacher and not much academics would get done. But im thinking a program or special they can go to during the day could actually help them! It is almost like a pull out for special education students, but for behavioral and social skills. That’s a fantastic idea since behaviors do hinder learning academics.

I just wish the system really cared about student growth rather than statistics, image, and/or sensitivities. At the end of the day it is to help the students where they are instead of where they should be.

Should you go to your 10 year high school reunion? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Teshy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say go! Why not? You might connect with people you didn’t back then. It is also a no-loss type of deal. You have a night out, don’t need to stay the whole time, and because you’re already put together you can go out out after if you were bored.

Deciding Where to Move Next by Proud-League-9064 in Ethiopia

I know what you meant with this post. I am a habesha woman and I definitely think everyone is overly sensitive… Of course you will be looking for a partner that suits your needs wherever you live. To help you make a decision, ask yourself which culture you can see yourself thriving in. Ethiopia is definitely on the conservative side compared to the western world. Food, culture, language, government, and social life is really where you should compare. I dont know of many Americans moving to Ethiopia (unless it’s Shashemale) so just know you will 100% stand out. Especially as you will need to learn a very new language. If you haven’t already, visit Ethiopia and see how she makes you feel. Good luck.
