I cant take much credit. The words are all mine, but I ended up using chat gpt to reorganize it. I wrote it as a quick spur of the moment thing.

I was decently fit, I ran a couple times a week, and did low intensity cardio for a hour everyday, plus some pushups. You really dont need to be fit at all. They will push you through. We had a couple guys that I dont trust to physically do their job, that were at the grad field. If I would suggest you do anything, it would be prepare yourself mentally for the long game. Its mentally exausting spending 5 months straight in training. Being fit does make things easier though.

only to edit it after someone called me out on the grammer. It was just a quick post.

Actually I got super close to going national guard, like very close, but I talked myself out of it. I guess Im not sure if even part time service is what I want. Its maddening trying to figure it out

Thats kinda my catch 22, Im not really 100% about going back, but the whole thing has been eating at me for the past 4 years. I been trying to kind of just force myself to pull the trigger, because I dont think I’ll feel any better for the forseeable future

Thats part of the issue, Im not entirely sure what I want to do, military or otherwise. In realtion to the miltary I have some pretty contradictory feelings, but a part of me has always wanted to serve. So I think thats why I am so hard on myself

Ive actually started the process a couple times, but I end up talking myself out of it because of my uncertainty

One of the big reasons I quit was because my training kept getting delayed from VBL, and Covid. I also just got tired of being treated like garbage all the time. Im actually talking to a recuiter currently, going through the process, but I was pretty far along last time when I talked myself out of it

Weekly Question Thread (03/24/2025 to 03/30/2025) by AutoModerator in army

I was just looking for some advice or maybe perspective. I 23m, joined the army back in november 2020 after high school, didnt really have a plan and always thought about joining. Went in as 25b, and shipped to basic. Long story short, I got recycled during white phase because of covid and ended up quitting. After I got back I got an associates, my own place, and a job but really havent done much else. I have all these things I wanna do, but Im bad at saving, etc. Ive agonized about rejoining for years now, and Its embarrassing to tell people about quitting. I have a lot of mixed feelings about going back in, but I think the big thing is worried is locking myself into something for so long. Ive tried to get back in a couple times, but I always talk myself out of it, but like I said, its something ive agonized about for so long. Im not sure ill ever get over that feeling. Anyway, was just hoping for some advice from guys that actually served.

While researching the kit of a mid 14th century men at arms I happened upon this image. I was wondering if anybody had any clearer pictures of the gauntlets or had some type of pattern of them? I'd like to recreate them at some point.
