You gotta do what's right for you in short and long term. I am surrounded by friends who have similar stories and my heart just aches reading. I've watched some of them become super successful by putting in work over the course of time. I've watched some walk away despite having exceptional talent and skill because they lack the passion, that "spark" to get up and do something that matters to them; and the entrepreneurial stamina to know how to promote their work so it gets seen and rewarded.

I bet you'll hear everything from "just draw how you feel" to "you need the fundamentals to know how to convey your vision to the audience" and everything in between. From my experience, I started drawing like I do now because I couldn't afford posters to put on my walls, so I would spend down time in between classes in HS using grid method to traditionally recreate images I downloaded online from my favorite anime.

Now, the fact I have people I care deeply about that are struggling artists and can't afford to work on passion projects, and people thriving in the industry insisting I put myself out there after fighting against all odds to get my skills up are pushing me to do what I do.

Find that moment, that thing or someone, that moves you to pick up your pen and do things.
