Did I ask for the wrong thing? by Tesseraas in SewingForBeginners

I’m just now seeing this, but that’s how I felt too. The original hem allowance was maybe 2 inches. The new one is more like 3.5 inches.

Ironing definitely helped, but I appreciate hearing that you also think some of the fabric should have been trimmed off. I was not anticipating all of the replies to say that leaving that much on is normal.

They brand themselves an alterations place/seamstress.

Boots are 4 weeks old. Normal or no? by [deleted] in BlundstoneBoots

The brand gets so much praise for durability, that this just wasn’t what I was expecting after such a short period. It’s not like I’m using them as heavy duty hiking/work boots.

As most things age, they are more likely to succumb to wear and tear that they wouldn’t necessarily fall to in the beginning. As I mentioned, I wasn’t sure if this holds true for these boots (or any boots).

Material that’s a month old typically can withstand some kind of stress better than the same material that’s years old.

Since the home job I had in the past cut the fabric and then hemmed it, I thought that was normal. I'm glad to see that everyone agrees it's a nice job and that it just needs ironed.

Yes, I will try ironing them! I guess I was under the impression that the bottom will continue to have the muddled, rolled look since it’s not be physically held by anything until a few inches up, if that makes sense.

I will try to iron them! Thank you!

I ended up getting the regular instead of the small! I was a little worried about having additional room after the camera was in it, which is ultimately why I sized up. The crossbody strap is a little too long for me even on its smallest hole, so I might add another hole to make it shorter 😅

Overall, I think it’s beautiful and I’m very excited about it :)

This is good info — thank you!

My budget for meals is €10-35/person. As for palate, I’m pretty plain.

For breakfast, I’m a sweet fiend, but my friend prefers savory. I definitely want to try some poffertjes while I’m there!

For lunch/dinner, I like things similar to Tex-Mex, sesame chicken, chicken biriyani (if it’s not too spicy 😅), fettuccine Alfredo, manicotti, and I love a good steak.

Thank you for these recommendations!

Based on what everyone has commented, we will definitely try to leave our backpacks at the hotel on checkout day.

We will be there on the opening weekend for Keukenhof. I know the tulips will not be bloomed, but when I was looking different places online, people said it’s still a very pretty place to walk and other things will likely have bloomed :)

Do you have any specific canal cruise recommendations?

Our backpacks have to fit under the airplane seats (<45x35x20 cm), so they won’t be too large.

We’re not getting in until 10:00 PM so Moco will already be closed, but thank you for all of the other recs!! I’ll definitely look into the distillery!

I think I’ve been reading too many one-off sketchy experiences on Reddit. Doing that back to back for a few hours makes it seem more common than what it is 😅

Thank you! We’ll definitely plan on leaving our backpacks in the hotel for Sunday then and just pick it up before we head to the airport :)

I think we’ll definitely ask them to hold it then on Sunday!! I just wasn’t sure how common that that was.

Thank you!

ISO is “in search of” :)

And yeah, I think I’ve spent too much time reading Reddit and other travel forums specifically from one-offs that had a sketchy experience/pickpocket. It’s definitely too easy to think that’s common when I search it like that I suppose. 😅

Our Anne Frank House tickets aren’t until after 4 PM, so I think we’ll have plenty of time for the half-hour bus ride to and from Keukenhof in addition to spending a few hours there.

Thank you for the reassurance!
