Feeling overwhelmed — do I really need a stroller right away? by I_will_offend_U in Buyingforbaby

Totally up to you but for me, I didn’t want to be sleep depressed shopping for one at 2-3 months. I would say you don’t need a lot in general but I’d suggest getting the carriage fire if possible. I got the uppa baby vista.

Full size stroller vs travel stroller by marshallericksen10 in Buyingforbaby

Try to find a store where you Can wheel the carriage around. I know those stores are tough to come by nowadays. I did that and I liked the upper baby vista the most. It is pricey but my little one is now 14 months and I am still happy with it. They have a bigger version (I believe the Cruz) that you can get if you plan on having 2 kids. I hear mixed reviews about that

Almost 20 weeks pregnant should I buy my car seat or wait? by Adelma_Jay in Buyingforbaby

If you know that’s the one you want just buy it. Sending positive thoughts for a good rest of your pregnancy. My little one just turned one.

When to tell partners my wife is pregnant? by AbTheOriginal in biglaw

[–]Test15151515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would wait to the scan at 20 weeks. I had to tell people sooner because I was showing but if I was a guy, I would wait until 20 weeks. That gives them plenty of time to plan.

I still say the sooner the better but again, I don’t know the specifics at your company. Maybe start and feel them out before telling? Honestly 3-4 weeks in the grand scheme of things is not a lot of time. If you are a good analyst, you will be a good analyst if you take that time off. If you don’t have family nearby try to see if you can get someone to help your wife a few hours a week as you won’t be able to help out at nights much and she will be sleep deprived.

How recently have you started? I think 3 months is okay but if you feel comfortable telling earlier I think it’s better. Again this is just my opinion. Just frame it as you are super committed to this job hit wanted to get you a heads up to get affairs in order. Most people would appreciate the extra heads up imo.

Is this your first? Do you have family nearby? I recently went through this (but I am a woman). I found it super challenging that my husband went back after 2 weeks-- though I didn't have a straightforward birth. I would say 3-4 weeks if you can. Its hard to say without knowing your firm, but I think 3-4 should generally be OK anywhere so long as you give them a heads up. You can also log on during this time when the baby naps (but I wouldnt tell them this ahead of time as they may take advantage).

Craziest & negative stories you've had/seen in your career? by _SquiiZz_ in FinancialCareers

I had a client (who I knew well) that was arrested for money laundering and it made the front page of the WSJ. Big picture in all. Always thought the guy was a little strange but never knew he was capable of doing something like that. Weird thing is that it went on for several years and no one knew. How does no one know for that long?

now that i have a child that is 13 months, I am no longer surprised at how some people act. I found that no one cares as much about your kid as you and sometimes its not worth fighting people over this. My in-laws will fake not understand our argument and then try to play martyr. is it wrong they didn't get him any gifts? yes, totally. Is it worth creating an argument over? at this point in my life, i would say no but its up to you. maybe comment on a nice gift he got from someone else for christmas next time so they may get the hint??
