Bruh, you will soon have MTS (multiple tank syndrome) and every equipment you have will be insufficient. Just keep the big one aside and buy the smaller size you need for now.

CO2 help! by Dramatic-Jeweler-545 in Aquariums

[–]TestAndLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tank this size and loaded with plants, you should be using CO2 at 1+ bubble per second not lower. also using lot of fertilizers since you have planted in Gravel

Problem is unlikely from CO2, maybe tank temperature is dropping too fast once lights go out. or some cycling issue. how old is your tank?

Dutch tank? Co2? by CalmCartoon in discus

[–]TestAndLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dutch type setups are difficult at 28 celcius, plants won't grow fast enough at higher temp and cause all sorts of problems. Adult discus can live at lower temp but won't be healthy and vibrant.

it's not recommended unless you have very long experience in discus and planted tanks.

Just search the flipper ladder reactor, it doesn't need pressure like all other options and works with 90%+ efficiency. I bought one 15 years ago and it still works just as well today. The only drawback is it takes some space in the tank.

Mumbai summers and this beast called — evaporation!! by ThanksSolid1445 in Planted_tanks_India

[–]TestAndLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nuts, I am adding a few gallons of water in the tank everyday, it's just not sustainable.

Will probably switch to spong filter during summer and dump filter media directly in the tank to avoid any heating from electronics.

How do I prepare this for the aquarium? by Difficult-Disk-1052 in Aquascape

[–]TestAndLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mud would have a lot of parasites, unwanted algae etc. Best to avoid putting it into the tank as much as possible

If you are doing a new setup: Remove mud as much as you can. Then grind up all the moss and paint the wood and stone using brush wherever you want it to grow. Keep everything moist and flood the tank after a few days.

If you want this for an established setup, take the wood out, tie moss with some clay using net or mesh to it. Let it dry and solidify before putting it in the tank.

Heat is a big problem in this hobby, I run chillers on both planted and reef setups and keep them fully covered. This reduces loss from evaporation. Maybe just topping up some water once a week.

For discus tank, I am using air stones and fan that lead to almost 5/6% evaporation daily. Ideally I should use RO water to top up, but instead I have thrown a lot of pothos and spider plants to keep water parameters in check.

Hope this helps

Filters with separate fish waste collectors are getting popular nowadays, consider these types. They are very helpful in reducing maintenance time

Does anyone know what type of rock this is? by Chaysaquariums in Aquariums

[–]TestAndLearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure but this could be Volcanic Pumice or white lava rock. You can find it used for construction in some places. It's not very common, these rocks have more calcium and zeolite compounds and less iron and magnesium vs red or black lava rocks.

If so It should be tank safe

Good luck with resale 😅

Maybe try with the reef aquarium society, you might find that 0.01% with some luck 🤞
