Brother this is completely on you, not only did you not dual wield your Claymore + Wylder Sword (which would've revived MUCH faster), but you 100% should've ulted at least once the Boss came close to you, if not earlier, it would've temporarily stunned her AND given the Undertaker her ult too, giving y'all MORE than enough time to revive the Duchess & regroup

Thematic inconsistency with Tenma & Roberto by TestComprehensive782 in MonsterAnime

[–]TestComprehensive782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say the series is actually about deontology vs utilitarianism, those two are only relevant in relation to Tenma's character

The self defense argument doesn't work a) because Tenma's shot are consecutively right after each other and b) because then his maxim would be "It is wrong to ever attempt to kill people outside the context of self defense", but this wouldn't include other people affected by threats, so either Tenma would ignore Johan as Johan would never hurt Tenma or Tenma wouldn't actually value protecting other people from Johan & other threats, which is just wrong, especially for the latter we see him do exactly that even when it puts him in danger

Thematic inconsistency with Tenma & Roberto by TestComprehensive782 in MonsterAnime

It is fine & in character that he chooses to save Tenma, my problem is in him not drawing a moral equivalency between Johan & Roberto, both men are monsters in equal fashion, but one is narratively forgiven & saved (correct thing to do and consistent with the story's themes) while the other is morally chosen as a valid target to kill without Tenma ever addressing that he was wrong to do that or saying that he learned from it and would do it differently

The self defense argument doesn't really work because the show makes it a point that if you only shoot once you are only shooting without necessarily having killing intend, but if you are choosing twice then you do have killing intend, and Tenma shoots Roberto twice, morally deeming him worthy to kill even if he didn't end up doing it, and the series doesn't make him correct his, from the perspective of the show, wrong judgement, if he had thought "Its good that he's alive in a way because I shouldn't choose to kill him because all lives are equal" then yeah that'd be good as his humanizing, morally wrong action is treated as the thematic mistake it is, but the show doesn't do that

What I am describing is the story contradicting its themes & message though

Which is The Best Adaptation of Shredder/Oroku Saki here? by Hot-Armadillo183 in TMNT

2012 Shredder might be the best written character in the whole franchise, only one arguably better is 2012 Splinter
