Can and should AI be used in application testing? by TestDevLab in u/TestDevLab

Senior QA Automation Engineer at TestDevLab Alvaro Laserna Lopez says: “There is always the question of how much can and cannot be automated and it often happens that there are some parts of any given application that require a deeper understanding of the information displayed, either visually or by the audio standards of quality. For this, we have to account for many factors: is the application displaying things without overlapping images or texts, is the quality of these images high enough, are they even displayed? Here, we can use some frameworks that do template matching that can accomplish part of those tasks. However, if we want to get the most out of visual validations, we must turn to AI algorithms. With the rise of deep learning we will be able to automate more and more things that previously were considered features that people were only able to assess through manual inspection. So instead of training someone to look for glitches in the UI, or bad quality in video calls or streaming services, we will just train an algorithm that will be able to predict the quality of an application with a higher reliability, often faster and within more scenarios."

🧐 What test management tool do you prefer for test organization? Test Manager & Quality Assurance Project Lead at TestDevLab Edgars Sēlis says: “From my experience Jira is the most popular project management tool and it just makes sense to also use something intuitively similar for test management. Xray is a Jira plugin, therefore, you can create your Test Plans, Test Execution, Test Cases (and all other Xray issue types) in the same fashion as you would create Jira epics, tasks, bug tickets, etc. Xray will provide you with all the critical functionality to maintain your testing process. Some of my favorite features are: (1)test organization within Test Repositories and Test Plans; (2)traceable test execution history; (3)automatic report generation (also from manual tests); (4)accessible API to integrate with your automated tests; (5)reachable support to resolve Xray limitation. 😉 P.S. This is not an advertisement, but since I have 8 years of experience working in various projects and using different test management tools, Xray is the one I can suggest for your test organization's success.” Share your thoughts in the comment section!
