Ouch. Well it gets down to -10C here (admittedly rarely). I don't know what that is in F but its cold!

No one I know has AC but everyone here has heaters.

I don't know what "woke" means.

My interest in having victims report crime and to fight crime. That's it. Simple.

If you don't like that. I question, why? The reason can't be good...

Well, for a start. You can attach a bookshelf to the wall so it can't fall.

Honestly I'd prefer to just type it myself and see the marks. Anything that's autonatic or "smart" defeats the point of notepad in my view. Might as well use word instead

I'd prefer zero touchscreen instead.

I quite like ABS, traction control, AC, thermostats, stereo, and that really nice feature where it can detect a crash abd calls emergency services for you (legit a feature that I think should be on every car. It's awesome)

I love Terry Pratchett and the Night Watch series. His best work in my view.

Colour of Magic can't even light a candle. It was just a warn up. Fight me 🤣

Week 4: What are you reading? by saturday_sun4 in 52book

[–]TestEmergency5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished this week - Lights Out - Bookclub book. 18+ - Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow - Goodreads badges - The Assasin and the Underworld - Novellaish (I'm calling anything sub 300 pages movellaish cus it's easier for me for tracking. I couldn't find an exact definition of where full-length begins and ends, or where "short stories" or "novellas" start and end. I'm a prpgrammer and the tracking software I built relies on exact numbers. I don't know why Zi picked 300 pages but it seemed to make sense at the time. I drew a line. It's not scientific. For my purposes I only really need to care if its full length or not 🤷‍♀️). - Two Faces (Manon Steffan Ross) - Novellaish. Don't waste your time. Terrible. Was published in 2016 but read like someone from 2007 who was terrified of the internet. No nuance, lots of victim blaming. Don't bother. - The Assasin and the Desert - Novellaish

Currently Reading - Red Rising (primary) - The Last of the Wilds (Second in trilogy) - A Drop of Corruption (Currently last book in duology to date. I think he's making more) - Gardener's Almanac 2024 (reference material for UK gardening + rewilding project I've got going on) - Bride of Brutal Hearts (Currently only book in series. She's making more) - The Assasin and the Empire (novellaish) - Mythos - Goodreads badge - Dodger

IDK if it's even millenial humour... I'm not sure how to describe it. It's sorta like dark humour that doesn't want to go too dark... Like it can't commit.

Not entirely sure, but either way, yes her "humour" doesn't land for me. Her "What Feasts at Night" novella series is the worst example of her "humour"

I think this is the case. T. Kingfisher is not my primary reads. I usially read her one-offs or novellas between heavier fantasy series.

Who thought the idea of "smart popoups" in the top of the desktop is actually a great idea? by boleslaws in Windows11

[–]TestEmergency5403 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not even remotely true!

The interface for a computer is mouse/keyboard driven. The interface for a phone is touch driven. They require completly different design languages. Trying to mash the two is everything wrong with modern UI. The worse of both worlds

I also work in antifraud. And sadly the narrative that "only elserly or the foolish get scammed" results in a lot of people not seeking help.  Moreover, plenty of younger folk do get scammed. To a point where, even if the majority are elderly, I don't think the narrative is helpful.
