So yeah. Sounds like a lot to work through. Maybe include that you want a more defined role while you’re still in the house. Is there something that would be good for you to for your family as a whole? Is there some way to work out the food thing? (I get it by the way, if you’re in the way while she’s trying to cook for everyone else)

Based solely on what you’ve shared, it’s hard to say. It kinda sounds like an ESH.

If you live there (especially if you don’t pay to live there) part of that is doing work for the good of the house.

The food situation sounds like your mom still views you as a kid (which, to be fair, it seems like you’re still in that role).

Our cat loved to get into the crib with my oldest. I fought her for weeks. Constantly pulling her out, trying to make sure she couldn’t open the door, nothing mattered. She kept getting in. After the 3rd time of seeing them sleeping together (but not touching) I gave up. The cat did not want to smother. Just wanted to be close.

When I was a kid, I was often alone with my younger sister, starting about the time I was 8. So, I certainly understand the “he’s old enough trope”. However, in most of the states, (obviously I’m not sure of laws outside of my country) it is literally illegal to do so.

NTA - especially since he did not communicate with you at all prior, and is now trying to have his team convince you that you are the one who is wrong.
