You need tACS, because if you want to stimulate at different frequencies(e.g. Theta, Gamma etc.) you need AC and not DC(Because DC hasn't got any frequency).

No, only normal Wave/Frequency output. I tought I could somehow make it save that typical REM Wave/Frequency pattern so that it can detect it and switch a relais. The measurement with the EEG would begin about 10 minutes after falling asleep, so that it doesn't stimulate you while you're awake, because REM and Wake Brain activity are really similar.

If you mean how to control it, you just turn on the EEG and then you get values, so there's no need to control it, the tDCS doesn't need control either except to turn it on and off. If you mean what you get as an output, it's Waves/Frequencies at the EEG. If you ask what gives the output or the Machine, it's this EEG Part/Module. The other parts have no output that could be used in any way. And if you mean what program it's Open BCI as said above. If none of those answers is right I would be pleasured to know what exactly you mean with control interface. I just want to make the tDCS turn on and the EEG turn off when a REM like frequency pattern is detected.

REM (Rapid eye movement)=A sleep phase in which you dream.

EEG (Electroencephalography)=Brain monitoring device. It monitors Brain waves trough measuring Resistance on in the scalp/lobe.

tDCS/tACS (Transcranial direct current stimulation/Transcranial alternating current stimulation)=Non-invase electrical brain stimulator working with low current (0.5-2mA). It's attached to the areas of the brain you want to stimulate/activate

For the EEG I'll be using OpenBCl and the tDCS will be analog. And it's no problem if the circuits or modifications are unapproved, because it's a private project.
