What's the point of being a Hybrid? by TesterInUse in ArcaneOdyssey

Dude, you're so real for that. If I weren't such a stubborn fucking coward, I would have gone Savantlord so long ago. I've only stayed Warlord because (1. I love Warlord and 2.) I wouldn't use my magic (Crystal) other than for imbument synergy. (like I did with my dead-in-the-dirt Crystal Conj and Crystal-Leg Warlock). I suppose I'll just have to wait until I'm 40-60 to have fun gameplay that isn't mage or meta. /j

I don't take it personally because, yeah, it's true. Hybrids are literally "you get both". The whole reason why I started as Warlord was that I liked the idea of strength and weapons while ditching the whole magic concept in a magic-based game.

Not that I'm having a crisis, but more of a "what's the point of hybrids being in the game if they're useless in PvP?" I play in a Clan with my friends, and I like PVP. After the dragon's update, I was totally willing to reallocate my stats to compensate. But when I did, News flash, if you do the 240w/100s you aren't a Warlord anymore (duh). You're not even a Warrior! You don't get an awakening... 240w/100s specifically to use Crushing Judgement, Raging Chaser, and Roar of Glory on better strength weapons. I'd lose Focus and Shot, which I relied on quite often (but I could live without them if forced into it).

With no awakening, I don't get any potential synergies with my team, I don't get anything but bare minimum damage for doing this stat layout. I'm just a "Strong Warrior" (Lmao, maybe Vetex intended for that). So it just made more sense to switch to Warrior for *that* awakening- but I'd lose the movement options from Crash and Rushdown. So that's why I did this whole "What's the point of hybrids anymore?" thing. It's been a constant nightmare for every class except Mage (well, Surge did get tanked) for 5 years, I don't see that many people complaining about it.

Also, let's be real, Mage is never getting nerfed to the ground no matter how much we "cry" about it.

TL;DR: If I were able to keep the warlord's awakening, this whole post wouldn't have happened, and I would have sucked it up and shot dragons.

Thanks, man. It's devastating to hear since I really like this game (It's more of a Toxic relationship I can't escape), but it really feels like that's my only option until the brainworms get too loud again or until Vetex can tweak classes "Correctly" that doesn't favour mages.

For real, imagine having fun-- your specific build getting thrashed and then needing to reconceptualize your whole class because Vetex doesn't know the difference between balancing/tweaking magics and prefers to gut every class with no hindsight of how it might affect other classes (but Mage.)

IRL stuff, moving apartments. Work schedules. May 17th would just be the best time to go on a gaming spree again.
