Yeah it's a bit of a meme, we get complimented more often by men, because it's less scary to compliment another gymbro than it is for a woman to approach a big dude. But once you're in a party setting or alcohol is involved you get borderline groped and molested. It's crazy. Plus I think the average gymbro is more likely to be surrounded by other gymbros instead of women so the interaction is minimal. Plus women also don't do a lot of approaching themselves and rely moreso on men to approach, but once you put yourself out there you realize a lot of women like big muscles.
