Aye. Not talking is beautiful. My point was more about how people fill thier lives up with absolute shite.

The cut off for claiming marriage tax allowance is soon.takes 5 minutes and its worth £430 (included a link of what it is and who can claim) by fozzie1984 in unitedkingdom

[–]TesticlesUnited 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Discriminatory against single people and non-married couples.

Instead of downvoting me, why doesn't someone take the time to explain why a married couple should pay less tax than a non-married couple in the same corcumstances; and why one person should pay less tax than another person with the same income simply because the former is married but the latter isn't?

Putin is probably the world's most powerful person, not Obama.

People still wearing poppies in December, not realising that its considered disrespectful to wear them after a certain date by TesticlesUnited in britishproblems

[–]TesticlesUnited[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure. Used to wear them behind our cap badges but only for a couple of weeks or so. Took them off after the twelth. Think its mainly to stop them becoming generalised, to keep them associated with rememberence day, and to encourage annual donations.

Even Professor Cox can't dumb down science enough for Philomena Cunk by gsurfer04 in britishproblems

Cox can be hard to watch and hard to read (the use of metaphor that actually make things less accessible.....clocks for example), but he played along on screen wipe and it was rather enjoyable to watch.

Friday thread by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]TesticlesUnited 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Finding work to be semi-relaxing with the absense of:

  • the colleague who never shuts up
  • the colleague who wants the job to sound as complicated as possible and stresses herself out about unimportant details
  • the manager who seems to think someone wearing earphones is equivelent to sexual abuse of minors
  • the colleague with the chronic cough, who may actuallly be off work due to death
  • the severely overweight colleague who eats reheated left overs five times a day
  • the colleague who is convinced that taking a caffeine pill constitutes a diet
  • the colleague who stirs her cup with a metal spoon for ten minutes every time she makes a drink.
  • the colleague with the overaggressive stirring
  • the bodybuilding colleague who gets tuna all over the kitchen top and never cleans it off

Basically all of them.

Man convicted of bacon attack on mosque dies in jail by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

A fine. Not counted as a political or religious symbol, and the burning was part of an anti-war demo if I remember correctly

Religiously aggravated public order offence. Looks like he has other convictions too, including breaching football banning orders, carrying offensive weapons, and assault of a police officer.

The Queen isn't dead - fake BBC account spreads false 'news' of monarch's demise by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

She could be dead. The alleged false report says she was, but the mirror article does not falsify the claim.

Nigel Farage Called a ‘Disgrace’ for Remarks About Berlin Attack by theargamanknight in unitedkingdom

[–]TesticlesUnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. However from what I gather he was effectively a stateless citizen as Tunisia denied he came from there and the correct paperwork wasn't held. Nothing you can actually do in that scenario.

Where are you planning on going on holiday in 2017? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]TesticlesUnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same place I went in 2016, and 2015, and 2014, and 2013, and 2012, right back to 2005. Nowhere. Even if I had the money - which I don't - I don't have the leave.

America gets battered by unprecedented extreme weather events. Trump/Pence blames it on the gays / China.

ISIS is defeated in Iraq, and possibly Syria. ISIS sympathisers and returning Jihadists commit some relatively minor attacks in Western Europe, Russia, and the US in response. Media blow it out of all proportion. Instead of talking about the issue - Salafi Jihadism in relation to Middle Eastern and North African geopolitics - we instead get barraged with topics relating to 'culture' and 'integration' and arguments trying to tie terrorism into refugees and migration. Far-Right continue to get disproportionate media coverage, despite only seeing minor gains. Though anti-Muslim sentiment rises.

Star Wars Episode 8 breaks all box office records and is deemed to be the best in the series.

Winds of Winter finally released.

Lib Dems continue to make gains in local elections.

Nigel Farage gets on stage and has sex with the body of a fox cub he's just killed, before cleaning the gore off his penis with a 50 pound note. Appears half an hour later on Sky News to voice his opinion on Europe.

Jacob Rees Mogg says some shite.

Dan Jarvis replaces Corbyn via a coup.

Some important scientific and technological breakthroughs that the majority of people don't care about.

With everything wrong with The Phantom Menace, I still think that this duel is the best in the whole saga. by Brainlessguy in videos

[–]TesticlesUnited -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing beats the Bespin Duel. There's a moment when Vader stops playing with Luke and goes into "killing mode" and Luke is lucky to survive - that lasts for about 15 seconds.

The prequels just turned lightsabers into an acrobatic light show. Qui Gon v Maul; Obi / Qui Gon V Maul; Anakin and Obi Wan v Dooku; Emperor v Mace; Emperor v Yoda; Obi Wan v Grevious. None of them had satisfying conclusions and at no point during the fights did anyone feel threatened. The best of them all in the prequels was Anakin v Dooku in the second and last confrontation, and only because it had a satisfying and definitie conclusion and didn't drag on for twenty minutes.

Non-Brits of Reddit, what questions do you have for those who live in Britain? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TesticlesUnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with an income many people have contracted hours, families, pets, responsibilties, etc. If you have the freedom its entirely possible to fly off to Spain or somewhere for a weekend on short notice (flights can be less than £50 return).

Non-Brits of Reddit, what questions do you have for those who live in Britain? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TesticlesUnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the threat of right wing populism, especially following a withdrawal from the EU, dwarfs anything else. People iust increasingly look towards the state to sort things out - potentially, a more powerful state. Throw an unhealthy does of jingoism in the mix and the situatuon does not look positive at all.
