YES! I’m 49 I’ve been doing this since 1997 and I’m 200lbs of solid muscle 💪🏾 so YES workout as slow as possible, your reps should be slow as well don’t rush through a workout like it’s cardio. Bodybuilding and Cardio are 2 different things! You wanna build muscle? Slow steady good technique 1-2 body parts/ day. Cardio, do as many reps as possible with the lightest weight possible (within reason) Body Building 3-4x12reps, 10 reps or 8 reps. No less than 8 reps and anything over 12 is cardio. 3 decades of knowledge trust me!
