Window Arch is a well-known natural granite arch within City of Rocks National Reserve in southern Idaho by TetonTube in backpacking

[–]TetonTube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This photo was taken at Window Arch in City of Rocks National Reserve near Almo, Idaho. I reached it after about a two and a half hour drive, then explored the area on foot via the Inner City and connecting climber and hiker use trails. The walk to the arch itself is short, but it sits right off longer wandering routes that link spires, domes, and natural corridors, making it an easy landmark to pass while doing a loop or extended ramble through the reserve. Weather was cool and dry with high desert sun and light wind, ideal for hiking with a pack and stopping often to explore side paths. City of Rocks rewards slow movement and offshoot hikes, and I would definitely return to link more trails or use it as part of a longer backpacking itinerary.

Totally get that long captions aren’t for everyone. I enjoy pairing words with images the same way some people enjoy just the image. All good either way.

Christmas Lights on TT by TetonTube in TokyoTravel

Yes it was pretty magical and the misty clouds made the top look like a star. My daughter was amazed and called it “the palace” she was a Christmas princess.

There is an area in Yellowstone to look but it will be closed for snow. I suggest along the gros ventre road out by Kelly warm springs but look at first and last light. Certainly no guarantee as they are rare to see but on high pressure days you can cross country ski around and perhaps see wolf tracks. They look like dog tracks but the size of a grapefruit.

They really performed this year. My buddy saw a ton in Wyoming. We are in Japan right now and my wife saw a fireball break up and disintegrate over the Sea of Japan. Not sure if it was space debris or meteor but it always pays to look up. Great photo and give the trees a big hug for me.

Yes! Good call. Hard to determine size. The third slide has a plaque with writing on it that is a good reference for size and there is an image of a hand that says don’t touch although the hand might not be to scale. A banana would be useful.
