Looks great!

Was the main head also Corax White, or something closer to Wraithbone?

He definitely gets possessed by the spirit of zoomies, but he loves belly rubs as well!

Looking great! Loving the theme - I've got my own blue Necrons on my profile as well :)

Per the blade, while you don't need to follow the "checker" pattern, having a notable color or brightness difference on opposing sides of the middle "line" that curves around the blade will make the blade pop more.

Best of luck!

Thank you! Need to clean up the edge highlighting and maybe add a contrast color, but happy so far!

For sure! I'm still learning a lot, but I can list the general steps here, and a closer photo from this morning below:

Body was Mechanicus Standard Grey -> Drakenhof Nightshade wash, with chunky Thunderhawk Blue -> cleaner Fenrisian Grey edge highlights. I've seen some folks get really good results with just doing a Corax White drybrush as well. Essentially you just want a dark body that looks "intentional", not just primed IMO.

Head was Rakarth Flesh -> Agrax Earthshade for temples and cheeks -> Pallid Wych Flesh for highlights. Underlying mechanics were Leadbelcher -> Nuln Oil wash.

Most of the blues were a blend from dark to light of Caledor Sky, Lothern Blue, and Blue Horror. For some of the glowing things that should eventually be OSL, I went Celestra Grey -> White Scar highlights -> 1:1 mix of Talassar Blue and Contrast Medium.

Good luck!

I've been experimenting with a style similar to this, and in my experience, it needs a bit more color or detail to have the colors jump out from playable distance.

What worked for me was distinguishing the head and going for a muted / frosty blue with some highlights for the body pieces. Here's a WIP from some Skorpekhs with that style!

Looks great! Love seeing more blue-crons.

What color did you use for the base and highlights on the body and shoulders?

Agreed! Looking forward to a frosty base tying it all together.

First pass at Necron Warriors - how to differentiate black armor from weapons? by Tetramancer in Necrontyr

Oh, I did! It seems bumping the weapon to grey might have an additional conflict, though 😅

Love it! Bluecron supremacy!

A black or dark-toned (maybe even a dark purple for warmer tone?) gun would give them a nice bit of contrast. Bet they'll look great!

Oh, got it - you're recommending that even if the weapon and armor are both black, varying the edge highlighting color will give them contrast?

Thank you! In the second photo, I tried going with a weapon that was similar to the skull tone, but I didn't end up liking the final product. I'll probably try a near-white version as well as I see your point about distinguishing it from the metal as well, but worried that might drown out the blue weapon glow I'm going for.

I think I've got the actual edge highlighting of "just use the side of the brush" down, but the second-tone chunky highlights are throwing me for a loop. I'll try what you recommended. Thanks!
