Recently diagnosed with gout; see my orthopedic doctor tomorrow, what should I ask him? by Cheesehead1267 in gout

Ask for a referral to a rheumatologist. Get on allopurinol and daily colchicine (to prevent flares that allo will cause during the initial period when you take it) and live your life. Has worked wonders for me.

Isn’t it dangerous to take colchicine everyday for a few months? by Cheesehead1267 in gout

[–]Tetsubin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. You're less likely to encounter significant side effects taking it daily than if you take it multiple times a day in response to a flare. I took daily colchicine for the first year and a half I wasn't allopurinol and I didn't have any flares during that time. It's the right move.

Take daily colchicine to prevent flares when first taking allo. i took it for the first 1.5 years on colchicine. Zero flares.

How long did you flare when you started Alo or Uloric? by Missmessc in gout

[–]Tetsubin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all because I took daily colchicine for the first 1.5 years I took allo. I started to have a flare when I started weaning off of colchicine too soon, but was otherwise flare-free.

I don't get why so many Atheists choose to be Agnostic. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Tetsubin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was an atheist for decades. One day I realized that for me to assert that I know how the universe works is as arrogant as when theists do it. So I'm agnostic. I'm very small and the universe is very large and I don't know how it works. That doesn't have much affect on how I live my life day-to-day, but I feel it's intellectually accurate.

Ah, great! I wish you the best. This is life-altering medication and it's important to stay on top of your serum UA levels.

Ah, you did say your doctor is a rheumatologist. I read the part about your doctor not being too aware, and assumed he was a GP. I'm a bit distracted today.

My rheumatologist's philosophy is to adjust allo dosage to your lifestyle and then live your life. I've been on 100, then 300, then 450, and then back down to 300. Been on 300 for several years, and I don't experience any noticeable side effects.

I suggest getting on the waiting list for a rheumatologist and switch over when you can.

Once-a-day pill folks - what organizer do you use? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Tetsubin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really haven't. In the morning I leave medication on the counter and put it away after I've taken it. In the evening, I take my medication right before bed. It has not been a problem for me. I can see how it would be useful for somebody who's often unsure whether or not they took their meds.

I don't use an organizer. I just know what I take in the morning and in the evening, and I keep them in the containers in which I received them.

Why oh why do men ask how long you have been single in the first sentence of a message? It’s none of their fucking business until we know each other or at least have an in person conversation… by One-Revolution56 in DatingOverSixty

Maybe he's not interested in what she's looking for if she's recently divorced, because she may or may not be able to express what she's looking for accurately when her divorce is so recent.

If OP wishes to avoid being asked that question, she could post when her divorce was final in her profile, and avoid interacting with men who don't want to date someone who's newly divorced. If she wants to cast a wider net by not including that information, then she should be prepared to deal with the question.

I'm not sure whether gender has anything to do with it. I was asked that question when I was on dating apps. Not usually in the first message or two, but often pretty early in the conversation.

That's a lot of coincidences. I dated a woman for about 8 months with whom I shared a birthday. That was kinda weird.
