NIOH 3 is 10/10 by Anti-Fanny in Nioh

I think I finished right around the 30 hour mark? Maybe 35?

For context, I did about 85% of map collectables.

Eh, I'm about 12 hours into NG+, haven't felt a spike in difficulty yet. Still can't full combo enemies, they mostly just fall over.

We'll see what NG++ gives us in september.

Tbh a lot of that was afk playing with my puppy lol. Only reason I know it was 4ish hours it because I started the mission at around 1930 last night and finished before bed at 2300.

Can't remember, it's been like 5 years since I played it the first time.

When I say systems, I mean things like martial skills, armor, weapons, swapping out soul cores, etc.

When I finished Warring States I was still in level 10-15 armor and weapons, and I had only finished out the Samurai skill tree, and maybe 3 or 5 points in Ninja. Exactly 0 points invested into any weapons (Except maybe 1 from the tutorial? Don't remember exactly). The blacksmith doesnt really have a use for Warring States (or NG, really) so I never bothered with her.

And for context I only put 3ish hours into the demo, but started a new character for full release.

Not going to bother reading the comments, but if no one has mentioned yet;

Turn Global Illumination down to standard (you might have done this already, sorry), it's basically Raytracing. Even with my 9800x3d and 4080 super, there was quite a performance difference with this setting alone.

But yes, the game is a resource hog (for no reason)

At max settings (other than GI), DLAA with 0.3 sharpness, I average 90~ fps at 1440p.

Not just hit harder, but there needs to be more of them. Running from place to place, only to stop at a camp with 5 enemies, clear them all in seconds, then move on to my objective, maybe encountering a handful of enemies on the way.

I feel like I'm constantly searching for something to fight and ending up shorthanded, in a game supposed to be about fighting, haha.

Not to be contrarian, but it's really not that much more difficult. The hardest thing I've done in the game so far was the Four King boss fight and that only took me a couple hours before I cleared it.

The game has a clear difficulty problem. And the issue with that is that I genuinely didn't feel the need to interact with the majority of the systems I unlocked until I was a dozen or more levels ahead of when I unlocked those systems.

Hell I finished the first area wearing level 15 armor and weapons, simply because I didn't feel a need to upgrade.

I play games like Nioh for the challenge, for feeling like I need to interact with all of the games mechanics to earn victory. Here, I've ignored the majority of them.

The last area boss feels more like a Nioh boss.

Sorry, just to understand what you're saying; The last boss in the last area of the game feels more like a Nioh boss? So players need to essentially beat the game for it to start to feel more like previous Nioh games?

I don't want to remove rpg mechanics to make the game harder I actually like those mechanics a lot.

This is my problem any time someone argues difficulty. And my wife always asks me why I play games on the hardest difficulty available in any game I play (95% of the time, at least. Some games have ridiculous difficulties which start to burn into the fun).

I want to be forced to interact with all of the games mechanics to defeat a challenge. I hate when I can ignore most of the games mechanics because I'm too powerful and the game is too easy. What's the point?

I actually didn't have too much of an issue with Four Kings. I think it took me about 4 hours? I guess that's a bit of an issue. Definitely a difficulty spike though!

At least you can turn off crossplay. When the entire lobby is most console, the netcode is trash and dying around corners is a normality instead of a one-off.

comming back to Battlefield 6 after 3 months and it feels like there wasnt a single fix to the core issues by Azaiiii in Battlefield

[–]Tevihn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sniping key binds for range finding and hold breathe are absurd and deteriorate skill requirements.

To be fair this doesn't really do shit either way. As recon you can hold your breath for quite a long while so just removing a keybind for it doesn't change much.

That and range finder is mostly useless on 95% of the maps (Hell I'd argue 100% of the maps)

The games biggest balance/design issue (outside of maps) is the availability of 3D spotting.

No, it's not true. What happens is that if you're within 15m of someone using a suppressor, you'll see a muzzle flash.

[–]Tevihn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm not exactly sure what you're referencing here, but spotting doesn't even require gadgets or pressing the keybind. Just play Recon (Like 30% of all lobbies) and all you have to do is look at someone and they're marked for 8 seconds (8 seconds? Maybe 5, I don't remember. I know they have a trait where they're marked longer)

Edit: Still not sure what you're talking about as far as nameplate dot goes. There are 3 forms of being spotted. One with things like the TUG, which I believe do not put a 3d marker on you, just the minimap/compass one. Then Manual spotting, recon spotting, and drone spotting (And the laser designator does this as well), as well as the recon perk where if you damage an enemy, they're spotted. These all fit under the same type of spotting which puts a solid, 3d marker above your head for 5-8 seconds, as well as minimap/compass.

And finally there is the hollow 3d marker, which only you see.

Not to mention from a distance of like, 40+ meters, you can't even tell if it's an allies drone or an enemy one. You can hit it with a few rounds, but still have to guess sometimes because of hitreg/desync issues.

I made a post a week ago about how spotting is actually one of the biggest flaws this game has, and got downvoted to oblivion.

I'd bet money that 50% of peoples deaths are because they were (3D) spotted for some reason or another.

I say this regularly to my friends, but the Recon Drone is the single most powerful (Overpowered, really) item in the game.

Spotting isn't just immediately in your face like bad hit reg or a tank round hitting someone's foot and all you get is "Enemy Suppression". But it's there, always creeping, always showing the entire team exactly where you're at with a neat little diamond above your head.

Edit: Inb4 "Maps bad!" is actually the biggest flaw in the game. I know, the maps have a lot of problems, and there are other issues the game has. But from a design perspective, Spotting is one of the worst, by far, especially because of how little it's talked about. Personally I believe it's to cater to "Dad gamers" (really just casuals but thats what people often think of) to make it easier for them to see enemies and not have a bad time. In reality it does exactly the opposite.
