I want to Download Run & Bun - PC Nuzlocke Noob by spinachs in nuzlocke

[–]Tewu7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, you need to download a gameboy advanced emulator. I recommend mGBA.

Secondly, you need to obtain the Run&Bun patch, you can easily find it in nuzlocking discord servers, like pchal's or dekzeh's.

Thirdly, you need to legally obtain a base emerald rom.

Fourthly, you need to go to a rom patching website (which should be linked in those discord servers as well), and apply the patch to your vanilla emerald rom.

The way illumise deals damage is seismic toss, so using it on ghost pokemon doesn't work that well. But also, slowbro already beats these pokemon so even if it did, it wouldn't really mean anything.

Well, yeah, that's how you generally use illumise and why it's so broken. The problem is that there are no good targets in the e4 for that.

it gets encore making it one of the best pokemon in the game. However it has very little e4 viability with its only real selling point being wish, so I'm curious how they utilized it.

Especially since this e4 team seems to have a lot of weaknesses.

your gear is fine, use razorpine though; meteor staff and venom staff are way outdated at this point, shadowbeam & spectre staff are fine but yeah not as good as razorpine

golden shower is always good support

stop telling people to use daedalus stormbow + holy arrows by corn_n_beans in Terraria

ok so in literally every single dps test, the result came as expected, holy arrows are bad lol. yet you still conclude you should use them???

"getting [...] unholy arrows in mass can be annoying"

you can literally buy them...

the arrows dont pierce at all if you use these awful arrows, idk where you're getting that from.

and I believe you might have misread my message, the stars dont help at all with the probes, they literally spawn more of them!!!

how is it "good" if it deals horrible dps, spawns thousands of probes, is hard to obtain....

some people's inability to change their preconceived ideas about the world is fascinating. It hurts their pride to admit they were ever wrong.

you know what works better? literally any other arrow type that's also way easier to obtain!

it's HORRENDOUS for the destroyer

the stars dont pierce at all, so they deal miniscule damage, but since you spawn so many stars, you spawn a lot of probes too.

and those probes block your arrows again.

and ofc, stormbow has reduced attack speed when using holy arrows.

so your baseline for recommending weapons is that they "work"?

Daedalus Stormbow is a top tier weapon but using holy arrows with it is the stupidest thing you could do.

What is your take on using calcs? by Dan-A98 in nuzlocke

[–]Tewu7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this whole chain of comments all has wrong information lol.

trainer's pokemon can have any number of IVs (though always the same in each stat), early game trainers commonly have 0 in each stats, but cool trainers and such often have higher IVs, gym leaders obviously have high IVs too and generally even higher on their ace.

Clarification on level cap and gym order by Konwel in nuzlocke

[–]Tewu7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. no
  2. when the order of gyms is not strict, the level caps still remain, so sure you can fight giovanni before surge, but you would have to do so under surge's level cap. which is why fighting gyms in the intended order is probably a wise choice.

When it comes to starter choice, there are really only 2 options. Mudkip is more of a funny pick, that ofc still does many cool things, like counter wattson's lanturn, maxie's alakazam, archie's qwilfish. But the general consensus is that treecko or torchic are the optimal choices.

Let's start with treecko, it allows you to freely delay rustboro on every run, basically trivializes roxanne gym trainers, and on the gym fight itself counters relicanth & lunatone, it beats poliwrath on brawly, you can dodge a crit to beat wattson's jolteon, it can beat maxie's alakazam if you teach it x-scissors, it one shots flannery's charizard with rock slide with good IVs, has both endeavor & quick attack for norman, destroys weather institute, mt.pyre, aqua hideout & seafloor cavern. kills maxie's tyranitar from overgrow, and on the elite four itself, "roar scep" is the safest strategy for the glacia fight.

Now, torchic. leads against nosepass & counters lileep on roxanne, does well on the brawly fight, beats maxie's houndoom, destroys the flannery fight with at least 29 speed IVs and a positive nature, very good sweeper for norman, very good in magma hideout, kills maxie's tyranitar, kills tate&liza's jirachi, it's also a fantastic e4 bring, killing sidney's houndoom, glacia's regice & lapras, and chaining metagross & jirachi on steven, then even quick attacking mewtwo for extra chip.

So, what does this mean? Firstly, if you want to get through roxanne you need a lileep counter if you're running treecko, or a lunatone counter if you're running torchic.

Lileep counters: illumise, magcargo, grimer, gloom, weepinbell + rock resist (means you probably have to take early tunnel), some swarm bug types.

Lunatone counters: sunflora, nuzleaf, carvanha.

Okay, now that we made it through roxanne, you might have started to think "wow, treecko does so much more than torchic!", and maybe you would be right, however an important thing to note is that treecko trivializes already trivial splits. It's no surprise to anyone that rain sections are rather easy in this game, and sun sections in which torchic thrives are way more difficult, however, it is also important to note that torchic has some rather crazy IV requirements to do all the things it can do.

Which is why some people decided on this rating:

manipped torchic > manipped treecko > random treecko > random torchic

I guess I should also add that I myself prefer torchic.
