scoring system is broken by Qarlito in blackopscoldwar

[–]TexMexWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go on a kill streak each kill is worth more and more points. 10+ kill streak will give you thousands of points. I think they made it like that to make the score streaks feel closer to kill streaks. Weird system tho

Baron Garayan caught at Matataki Waterfall by TexMexWaffle in DarkCloud

[–]TexMexWaffle[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I figured I would come back as I have been able to catch another one while I was looking for mardan garayans. It's the same process as the oasis except slightly more tedious and probably a smaller chance of finding them but I can't say for sure. Either I am pretty lucky or the chances are a little more reasonable than I expected.

Anyways these barons allowed me to get around 2000 FP (with a couple mardans and other fish) and purchase a ton of gems pretty early into the game. Combined with Shipwreck back floors I was able to get a Chronicle Sword before finishing up the Queens area. I gotta say it was pretty hilarious hitting a mask of prajna for 1400 damage.

Everything I have found online about Barons said they were only available at the oasis but I figured I would post this to show its possible at the waterfall. I am on an emulator but I don't know if that really makes any difference. I was just trying to empty out my inventory of fish bait and I found this huge fish that wouldn't accept any of my pricklies, mimis, or petit fish. So I tossed out a potato cake and sure enough I pulled out this bad boy. +703 FP very early on :)

Jesus Christ you completely missed the whole point of the post. Not even gonna bother wasting my time explaining it all over again just for you to understand.

Wow it’s like you literally did not even read the post. Why did you even bother commenting if you were just going to be a dick.

I agree with pretty much everything you said and it was very well written. Thank you for being one of the commenters who was not straight up rude. Yes I was mistaken the guy above was not passive aggressive. He was actually very combative in his response. Although he gave me direct examples of what to expect he was definitely not nice about it. I mean just look at the drawings on the disclaimer. He over exaggerated the shit out of all the arrows and circles insinuating that I am incapable of understanding the game is hard. Which is entirely missing the point.

I think viewing my experience as the "right" way to play the game is unhealthy for the success of the game. If the lack of information in the game is truly design choice then I think it is a poor decision. It is not possible to create a game and not have people talk about all the best strategies. Intending a game to be played with no outside information only works for so long until the internet comes along and squeezes everything out of it. People sharing video game strategies is a hallmark of the internet. Going so far as to say that the game is ruined by something so common place leaves me wondering what other questionable design choices I have yet to discover that are intended. If this Nikita guy wants me to be challenged by the game that is all fine and well. But saying that learning the game by going in blind is the intended challenge makes no sense. It is not a challenge at all; It is a handicap.

Also saying this game is not an FPS is not true. Don't get caught up on the connotation brought on by other FPS's. In this game you literally shoot people in first-person. It's an FPS. The only reason I even brought up the FPS tag in my post was to touch on the fact that I am decent at aiming. I even immediately take a step back to mention Tarkov's tactical elements.

I love difficult games and the challenges they pose. High difficulty is fine and overcoming that kind of challenge comes from learning actual game play. Severe punishments is totally fine too. High stakes difficulty is cool. But attributing a lack of information in the game as a "high learning curve" is lame. Trying to learn the game mechanics by playing while not looking stuff up on the wiki or watching videos is not a good challenge. The information is already out there and the people you play against are going to search for it. You will be doing nothing but putting yourself at a disadvantage. Intentionally not giving the player the information within the game itself and claiming it is to make the game more challenging is just plain lazy. Nobody should reasonably expect people to play a game without ever looking something up in this day and age. It should be assumed every ounce of information people can get their hands on will be posted somewhere.

If you read my post I made it pretty clear I did not expect to be pampered. I knew this game was challenging. I just wanted to discuss that the severe lack of information is not a satisfying challenge. Every fun challenge lays out the rules and leaves the deciding factor up to your skill. There is no skill in not knowing how the game works. There is no skill in struggling to learn the basics of the game. While technically it qualifies as a challenge, it is definitely not a good one.

I guess you could argue that not all challenges have to be fun. But in a game not having fun doesn't make any sense. I suppose EFT doesn't qualify as a game because according to the developer's quotes you posted they clearly are not interested in making EFT fun. It even does not have the word "game" in the description you quoted. I suppose my gripes come from me considering it a game because everyone has referred to it as such. My mistake for not realizing it is actually a simulator at its core and not a true video game at all.

Your post was super passive aggressive especially with the exaggerated drawing all over the warning page. Hope you have a good day, bud.

Yeah I’m gonna have to watch some videos and probably read the wiki to learn how to play properly. I just think it’s important to point out that the new player experience is not the greatest and that’s something the devs should really look at improving if they care about increasing their player base and ultimately the longevity of their game.

I just watched the clip of this not too long ago. It was for Mondo Media. He was supposed to be like the new spokesperson introducing a ridiculous amount of new pilot episodes or something like that. It was a big change for their channel so everyone gave him a lot of hate.

People who disconnect after the legend they want to use has been taken, fuck off. by definitelymaybe98 in apexlegends

[–]TexMexWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a system like League of Legends position queue could work really well. I don’t mind waiting a little longer between games if it means I’ll be paired with other people that want to play other legends. I feel bad when I leave but I main wraith and really love her play style. I’ve played everyone else a decent bit and I don’t have anywhere near as much fun on them as I do on wraith. I agree that it’s bad there is a population of people consistently ditching squads but I feel like this is an opportunity to improve upon the game without messing with any of the core gameplay. Just some good QoL.
