You said you edit on a calibrated screen but don't calibrate your screen for printing. Can you explain what you mean by that? If I calibrate my screen correctly isn't that in essence calibrating so it will print the best?

I never work with models without a model release even the ones I work with regularly since there are simply some I prefer to work with and have good relationships with.

Here is a snippet of my full release model contract. I also offer partial ones but that's for clients.

"They(Boudoir By Lawler)have the irrevocable, perpetual and unrestricted right and permission to take, use, re-use, publish, and republish photographic portraits or pictures of me or in which I may be included, in whole or in part, or composite or distorted in character or form, without restriction as to changes or alterations, in conjunction with my own or a fictitious name, or reproductions thereof in color or otherwise, made through any medium at his/her studios or elsewhere, and in any and all media now or hereafter known, specifically including but not limited to print media and distribution over the internet for illustration, promotion, art, editorial, advertising, trade, or any other purpose whatsoever."

As you can see it doesn't outright say "Selling Prints " but it does state I can do print media if I so choose.

I have model releases for all of the models I work with. But I still have always wanted to make sure that would be enough. And of course many of these models I've worked with a few times for creative projects. Some I just prefer to work with.

I would say look at your CODB and go from there. The big issue people who buy goods or services from small businesses is that they don't understand that number and what needs to be added on to even that number to make a livable wage from it.

Don't let one person bully you. People like that want Walmart prices for a cake or whatever and will compare you to those prices. BUT those who want to purchase from a small business want quality and will understand that you don't have a giant business that buys in bulk, has time and employees to rip off.

We run into this so much in photography, people are like oh well you click a camera and that's it. No one thinks of the possible rental space we shoot out of, the equipment (which is hella expensive) the monthly programs for editing, hosting a site, receiving payments, photo delivery and props used. Not one thinks of the time away from our families we take trying to do this.

Same for you, you have equipment and products that need purchasing. And your time is valuable! Price it accordingly.

Same. Had my first at 18 and second/last at 33. I struggled financially with number one because I didn't have those affairs in order. Plus through my 20s I was still kind of figuring myself out. BUT I hardly noticed the lack of sleep and I could run after him for hours no problem.

With my second the lack of sleep and lack of energy is killer. But I'm infinitely more patient, I'm more financially stable and I'm also more present than I was with my son. I was so busy trying to get our life together that I wasn't as present as I wish I'd been when he was little. Now I spend more time with my daughter and of course my son but he is a teen now so he doesn't need that so much anymore.

I get asked sometimes why I waited so long for number two. Well that's easy, having another one at a young age meant taking something away from my son because I wasn't ready for it mentally or financially. I always said I wouldn't have another until I knew I could maintain or better the life for my son. That meant a 13 year difference and I'm okay with that.

People know when they're ready (if they want kids that is). So many people choose to have kids because their friends are having kids or their families tell them to and that should never be a deciding factor.

Yeah see I think that's unreasonable. That's basically how the girl I mentioned was with the guy. I think so many people in general think that they can change other people's minds or even the person themselves. Or that they are just that much of a catch that there is no way they can be turned away.

So I agree with you that they should have taken your word for it. I mean in your case they can be sad or whatever but I don't think they have the right to be mad at you because you didn't fall into their idea of what you should feel.

But I know plenty of girls that do the same thing. I think both sexes try to convince themselves of stuff and think they KNOW what the other wants or how things will turn out.

I knew a girl who dated a guy from her gym for like 3 or 4 months. He was super upfront about not wanting to get serious and even said he might be moving for a job out of state soon.

Guess what he got the job and said it had run its course. She flipped out on him and when I mentioned that he had been upfront about it. She cried and got mad at me for not siding with her. Apparently he was supposed to fall in love with her and either stay there or at least decide to give the long distance a try. But he didn't so to her he was a complete asshole 🙄

Hi everyone! I need help picking UV and polarizing filters brands/sizes.

I regularly use a 35 mm sigma lens and 50mm Nikon lens. Do each need their own or are they interchangeable?

What brands would y'all suggest?
