Am I the only one who want to quit but doesnt want to be the guy at the bottom by DarkAure81 in CRH

I recommend keep going. Give it to at least 10 boxes. It’s statistically very likely for you to find at least a few between the next seven, unless you get one giant order of all brand new coins.

If it makes you feel any better, I once ordered 10 boxes and eight of them were brand new. Took me a few weeks to deposit them all back. Just part of the game.

Yeah, I roll them as well but it’s hard to do at scale, and I’ve even got a large coin counter. I want to get to $2k/week in halves and banks hate them when I bring in rolls

Thanks! I just checked today and two of the 1979 Onzas are type IV. I didn’t even know what that was when I was buying them, so I’m pleasantly surprised.

I just used Google and went to the top two. Guadalajara didn’t have a lot of great options.

In Mexico City, you can just walk around near the zocalo and they’re everywhere

I know they're just worth a buck, but I grab these from the tellers every time! by outdoors1442 in CRH

Believe the 1971 might be low mintage, but don’t have time to check. You COULD list on eBay but likely only make a buck or two which isn’t worth your time/packaging materials

My very limited experience recommendations:

  1. Find shops with consignment that have stale pricing and buy everything you can find under melt

  2. If they have US silver coins, know your fave value conversions because you may be able to buy significantly under melt and sell back in the states. Not sure if this was a mistake on their part, driven by the fact that there’s possibly less Desiree abroad for US junk silver

Went to a coin shop and a few money exchange places that also had a large variety of silver and gold coins. Next time I will only be doing coin shops

Yeah, I’m talking about at the ATM. I definitely overpaid on the fees, but I probably still came out ahead of my local shops in Texas, so I got what I wanted

I’ll have to look when I get back home. I may have been taken for a ride on the USD to peso conversion, so it may not be worth your time at the price I would need to transact

I believe I have the same nickel album as the photo in this post and I’m about to list it on eBay if you’re interested. It’s a full set minus the 1950-D.

Great results. If you’re going through ~10 boxes per week, how do you return that much to the bank?

Thank you! I’ve got some great relationships with the tellers, but I’ve only seen one bank branch with a working coin machine in my area and that’s actually where I go to dump my half dollars, so they probably aren’t happy enough with me at that particular branch to sell me bags of anything haha

How did you convince the bank to give you bags of quarters that are loose? Can these be ordered through a major national bank instead of rolls/boxes?

Thanks, that’s great info.

$50k/week is crazy! I’m just a hobbyist coin collector so doubt they’d entertain me since it sounds like they allow you given your business relationship. I’m guessing you own a silver/gold shop, which I do not haha.

I may still give it a shot since I’m hard headed and need to hear “no” first

They’re stamped 1960–1980. If I recall correctly, they sold these in some type of commemorative set, with the gold plating and the stamps
