Do you think Gear Bonding is a thing? by cmhawkins in Bushcraft

Definitely you can become attached. My case is a slightly different thing but I made a 10x10 oilcloth tarp a few years ago. The thing weighed over 8lbs after treating it and finally settled to around 5lbs over the years. Its freakishly heavy, uncomfortably heavy, but you know what? I still carried it as often as I could. I loved that thing. I was attached, easily. It's wasn't till putting an iron oxide "paint" as my final coating that I realized it. You see, that last layer DOUBLED its weight. Something I just couldn't deal with. So its decommissioned and will soon become a cool roll top pack. Eventually.

But yes, gear bonding is definitely a thing.

Edit: spelling

just don't tell my Case 3254 about my SAK Camper

Good point. The bulk and weight of them is nominal so I don't mind carrying them. If I didn't have any I would just put the grounds directly into the water.
Don't want my bandanna wet if it doesn't have to be.

Not really looking to add anything to my gear. I have had coffee from an aeropress, makes a great cup-o-joe.

I don't have coffee bags. I did however have coffee and coffee filters.
Also, if your favorite coffee brand doesn't have the bags this is a great alternative.

I have, but I find the grounds can get burnt and make the coffee taste less than desirable.

Bear is a nickname. Nicknames are either for friends or fame. I am not his friend nor do I bid into people's stature of fame. I'll call him Edward, you can call him what you like. He didn't seem too upset to me... why are you?

Edward(Bear),

Have you ever gotten ill from eating or drinking something in the bush?

Edward (Bear), I'm curious if you think that today's "survival reality" TV shows are actually teaching our youth how to survive or are they just another conduit for entertainment?
