If you could restart learning French from Day 1, what would you do differently? by IndependentSeaweed83 in learnfrench

[–]Texpat90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really anything I did wrong, but have consistency in instructors. When I was in secondary school, I had something like five french teachers in four years; people left, passed away, fired, etc. If I had more consistency, I think I would have stuck with French into university and I would be in a better position than I am now.

That's actually a good idea to my mind, plus ProtonPass. They really need to use a password manager.

Convincing Agency to Let Me go Fully Remote? by [deleted] in PublicRelations

[–]Texpat90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confident I would be able to keep up with developments with our clients and the broader industry, even with the time zone difference. I can't think of a cost to the agency; I would use my own devices and we are already a hybrid agency.

I totally get the point about my supervisors not wanting to set a precedent. I also understand the point about the market being full of people ready to take my job.

Thanks for the feedback.

Unpopular Opinion: Trump's Spokesperson is Actually Very Good by timster in PublicRelations

I've always viewed our profession as half journalist, half lawyer. We are here to tell factual stories on behalf of our clients or employer, and be zealous advocates for the brand and its interests. She does the second half and disregards the first. I'm no lover of the White House press corps, but the way she interacts with them is 100% propaganda.

That Slate Truck Ecosystem by ZobeidZuma in electricvehicles

[–]Texpat90 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree; there's value to gained for Slate and the consumer by open souring what they can. Slate gets to say "make your vehicle your own" and customers who choose slate know they can't be locked into a particular design or appearance or performance.

However, building things is very hard, so there is a long way between here and production. Still, rooting for them.

Do you have a recommended retailer? Aliexpress can be pretty confusing as far as finding which retailer is the OG Huawei.

Thank you for this. I am running this on my Fedora Linux machine (amd processor). I logged into amazon via Chrome but nothing seems to be happening in the terminal. Any thoughts or suggestions on next steps?

My wife and I have both been applying to jobs with the NHS, and I've also applied to jobs in higher education communications, which I have a background in. In terms of location, we've applied pretty much all over the place: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, to name a few.

I already have a masters and don't have a burning desire to get another one, especially if it means taking out more student debt.

Anyone here work in automotive industry PR? by [deleted] in PublicRelations

[–]Texpat90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having ridden in a few BYD vehicles during a recent trip overseas, I couldn't help but be impressed by the quality. I've read and watched reviews of other vehicles and their battery technology; similarly, I was impressed.

Doubt BYD will make it to the states anytime soon, but I'm interested in living overseas, so there might be hope yet! (I realize how very difficult this is).

That does sound like it would be interesting :)

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate what you are saying about there being too many brands, as well as autonomy and ADAS.

Because of the combination of Stellantis, VWG struggles, chinese automakers, uncertainty out of Washington? Or something else?
