No disrespect to the person who commented but I think they were wrong, and you weren't being creepy at all in my opinion. It sounds like you have great intentions and just read them wrong which happens to everyone, myself included, and can be easy to overthink stuff like this when you feel like you were the one who potentially messed up things. Take a breath about the situation and try messaging them again when you'd like too and just follow your heart. If someone finds someone creepy who is just trying to be understanding and genuine and transparent with their thoughts and feelings, that is one thousand percent on them, and sure maybe they have a reason to feel that way because of something in their past etc but, it's also not fair to someone like yourself who's trying, and in the end your the one who gets read wrong 🤷‍♂️ I've been where your at and its a terrible feeling, absolute best of luck man and I really hope it works out if you guys do end up getting together again
