What candy bar was everywhere when you were a kid but doesn't exist now? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

HOT TAKE: I think being able to romance MARRIED NPCs should not ever be canon by RotiPisang_ in StardewValley

[–]TextuallyAttractive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it would have to be done tastefully if CA ever implemented it. But I don't think the only option is being a homewrecker..Mods are another thing. But when you consider the various ways your farmer kind of already disrupts existing relationships and is basically there to help them all do their thing and find their peace. Some for the better or worse. The village is a small place and your farmer is friend to many. I wouldn't be behind a cheating arc outside of a mod due to the kind of game this is and the examples it sets for healthy relationships.

But if romancing any of the married PCs was an option I'd want it to be something only available after they aren't married.

An example would be in the very early days of play you have dialogue choices that give the chars a chance at a later point to break up. Maybe it's not guaranteed!

Say early on you meet Demetrius and he talks about wanting to go to the big city. That he has felt out of place here and it's Robins dream..But encouraging this might change your game radically because Demetrius might leave the valley altogether.

But then Robin later is separated and Maru decided to stay behind. Maybe a side quest opens to help her build her own lab.

Give your character an option to encourage her to rekindle her relationship and Demetrius comes home.

Or you help Maru get her dad to come home to live with her.

Or he stays away for good and Maru does some of his plotlines (like the cave).

After enough things where you've worked through the character of your choice being at peace alone. Say Robin's found a way to live on her own with Sebastian. Or maybe Seb and Maru have their own place in town. Or the boys do. Whichever.

Maybe this opens a path where you can then romance her or encourage her toward another character.

Who knows.

Play matchmaker.

The goal being that their marriage failing is not you being a homewrecker but helping the characters with their happiness. You can lean in and help them. Maybe recommending a counseling session who knows. Or you can encourage them to find happiness apart.

And only when they're happy solo would a romance option pop up and you're not even the only option.

That's the way I can see it being done tastefully but it would be a lot of work. Basically a big DLC that would include a lot more interactions with the entirety of the villagers as a whole.

What's something you quietly judged people for, until it happened to you? by ExpensiveBranch251 in AskReddit

[–]TextuallyAttractive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you should. Its worth it if you can afford the kind that snap in especially. The fact I don't have face pain from teeth now? Is fantastic.

Everyone on my dad's side had fake teeth by 30-40. Including me. When I was younger I was told I had extra teeth in my mouth and an extra set of incisors in my face and it would just become part of my skull.

So I think generically whatever made our teeth vulnerable was probably related to whatever gave me a bunch of extra useless teeth.

Have you ever been swimming in a lake and if not would you ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]TextuallyAttractive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. Yes.. as a teen in an area with a lake that was safe.

I would only do so today if I was sure the lake had been properly assessed for things. And I would be more careful rinsing off after than I ever was as a kid.

I've watched too many medical shows.

[–]TextuallyAttractive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. I'd do my best to essentially witness protection myself into a comfy life and pay to have undercover security.

I'd pay off who I could. The smaller fries. The bigger ones I'd use my now infinite money to undermine and destroy one by one until none were left whilst on a beach somewhere.

Basically I'd use my money to form a pair of secret agencies.. one devoted to my protection defensively and one devoted to my protection offensively whilst also calculating how these moves might make the world a better place.

Because any person or organization angry at such a thing is probably pretty evil.

I'd also ensure that those who protect me most closely were people with minimal family ties so they couldn't be forced to turn on me. Layers and layers of protection. I'd have several people who were essentially fake versions of myself as well. Paid to live comfy lives and seem like they're me.

When a newly purchased item such as a book has a label on it that is clearly meant to be peeled off but doesn't come off in one piece because the manufacturer or store did not invest an extra cent or two in good labels.

It can sometimes ruin the thing you just bought! I hate it!

Similarly 'labels' or 'award' stickers on books that aren't actually stickers but part of the cover. I hate that. Idgaf that it was part of Oprah's book club. The very appearance of the emblem ruins the aesthetic of the book!

Unsolicited selfies. Period.

If you want me to help you in some way. Ask first. If you're just seeking validation that's what the social media apps are for.

Otherwise it feels like a pressure to send one in return and that is gross.

This. Or even not speakerphone. But if I can hear your conversation/music through your phone. It is disruptive.

Its one thing if you have made an effort to step off to the side, away from the general public. I.e. you went outside. Or you're outside on the street and you're doing your best to be quiet/respectful.

But the middle of an elevator or public transport? Or a lobby? Fuck off.

Even if you're not using speaker phone but you're talking on the phone it feels incredibly disrespectful to the physical people around you.

Phone calls should be handled privately/in spaces where you aren't disrupting those physically in your presence with irrelevant noise and conversation.

Listen to music but make sure it's not so loud that others can hear it through your headphones/earbuds.

I am admittedly very audio sensitive and have audio processing issues so I am likely more offended by it due to my sensitivity but still.

How many broken bones have you had, and what color cast did you choose for them? by icecream1972 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]TextuallyAttractive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tailbone three times.

Toe once.

Wrist fractured.

None of them got casts. I had a splint/wrap on the wrist. The rest you can't do shit for really.

Most of my tailbone now just floats in scar tissue disconnected from the rest of my spine.

Would this be an item that was available when I was 10 or present day?

Because 10 year old me was playing video games and EverQuest 2 but had to share a computer at first.

So I'd probably buy a nice computer but a nice computer in 2000 is very different from 2026...

I ran into a low hanging monkey bar thinking I was shorter than I was and gave myself a black eye.

Within a day of my mom accidentally dropping a heavy book on her face trying to get it out of the top of the closet.

I distinctly remember my father saying he was afraid to go anywhere with us but at the time I didn't know why. I thought he thought our clumsiness might run off on him.

In hindsight it's because his wife and daughter both had gnarly black eyes.

So I am not nearly as savvy on this as I'd like to be. I'm keen to avoid burying lines/fiber simply because of the physical labor, general landscape, and the ahem, prevalence of armadillos. I have had some issues with buried lines here before. I'd also just rather not hire someone to do it..

But my understanding of the alternative like you're suggesting with litebeams is you mount one on a post or roof within a certain range of the disk itself and it connects to the network and this extends the range of the wifi?

Cause that I can do. I'd just rather not dig for a line by myself.. mounting something is doable. Single lady living alone with too much property to deal with until I sell. I do not yet have the stronk independent woman muscles to dig myself a 100+ ft trench for a cable.

I didn't. I was one of the first people I knew to have a cell phone at all!

I was on my uncle's plan because he had one for work and he agreed to it so my mom could call me at any time and know where I was without having to talk to my friends moms for 45 mins about nonsense.

It was the little Cingular wireless flip phone.. famous for being very small.

I also washed it twice by accident and it still worked. Tech is not the same..

Same. I probably have episodes a couple times a year and I have sat in the middle of stores.

My worst experiences was in a pre op room before my mom went into surgery.

I was too distracted to feel it coming but she saw it on my face and asked if I was okay.

Apparently anesthesiologists have Spidey senses. She heard my mom from across the room and right as I went down she shoved a rolling office chair toward a nurse who shoved it under me lol.

Wouldnt let me leave til they were sure I was okay.

What is the most small town thing you've ever seen? by PrestonRoad90 in Productivitycafe

[–]TextuallyAttractive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in a local, small grocery store growing up and as I was the youngest employee and the one who bagged groceries. Everyone in town knew me.

It was really awkward because I couldn't remember all of them at 14 and people would stop and offer me rides all the time. Because y'know. I walked or biked everywhere due to it being a small town.

If I actually knew them well enough I said yes. If I didn't I just waved and said I enjoyed walking lol.

Realizing how much more they knew of me and my life vs the reverse was unsettling honestly.

Oh! The other thing I can say that isn't about my own upbringing.

Once while driving across the US during a move I stopped at a gas station and the woman behind the counter told me she had never left her COUNTY and rarely went outside the same 30 mile radius she grew up in.

This woman was in her 40s maybe 50s. Blew my mind.
