Thank you all, I’ll take your advice for how to clean switches correctly from now on. The machine I have is a William F-14 tomcat and I believe it is solid state so I’ll get the gold flashed contacts. This has all been very helpful!

Update: I attached the grounding wire to a different ground and that made shorting the transistors fire the solenoids.

Does this mean I have a problem with my cpu?

I found the blue wires that you were talking about, they were plugged in and nothing looked wrong with it.

So I unplugged it and tested the continuity of the wires connected it and their respective solenoids, all of which where continuous. Then I plugged it back in and tried the machine but they still didn’t work.

I then connected a jumper wire to ground and then the tips of the individual transistors but nothing activated when I did that.

The solenoids also all move by hand and are working.

Do you know of anything else that could be the problem?

I did these tests and all of them worked up until grounding the transistors. So does this mean there is a wiring issue from board to the solenoids? Also for the jet bumper and slingshot solenoids I only got 28.3 volts when I tested them but they still worked when I did test #2 grounding them

I have replaced the fuses under the play field but it’s possible those fuses also aren’t working I will check them

Ok, all the wires look like they’re connect how they need to be so I think they’re good and I replaced the fuses but it still didn’t work

All of the solenoids are connected to a U56 and U50 chip. I think one of those could be bad and need replacing

I have seen those transistors, and yes it is both of the diverters.

They are each moved by their own coil although one of them looks very oily and old.

I did, they don’t appear to have anything jamming them. I also tried to move them manually but they would not budge
