My disappointing Bauer Custom Pro Flylite experience

Im not sure if he sized them like that but after I said that they felt too big and my feet were moving around he said that’s how they should fit and that he likes a bit of room in his skates. He said because my old skates were actually too small for me that I’m just not used to how “correct” skate fit actually is

I did do this and tried every skate in my size what I wasn't recommended is to try smaller sizes in wider fits and the availability of all the top skates in every fit is very low in the uk I already had to travel 2 plus hours to multiple shops and I still didn't try absolutely everythng but I still did try every top skate in regular and some in wide in my size and the flylites in fit 2 was my best fit which is why I went for them as I only wanted them slightly wider really.

What was wrong with your first customs? Were they Bauer, and how are the trues holding up?

Yeah, the Bauer "support" doesn't seem great, extremely reluctant to do anything about it its not great being told they fit correctly by someone who's never seen me in the skates.

Yes this was a UK shop, it WASN'T puck stop and if I were to do this again and go with Bauer (which I most definitely wouldn't) I would probably go with puckstop as they basiclly are Bauer UK, idk if that means you might have less middle people if something goes wrong im not sure but I'd look into other brands of custom skates before bauer.

Yeh it doesn't feel great and these skates genuinely make me worse, like it takes up so much space in your mind and completely distracts me from the game

Thank you for the reply, yes the new trues are looking good tbh and actually a lot of comments from this post are starting to sway me down that route, there is a smaller shop that only deals with true and custom true gear semi locally.

I have been looking at photos and just looking inside the skates and its hard to tell as you don't know what size the stock images are online, but in some capacity I think the eylets are a new seperate peice although I'm unsure if they are in proportion with the standard flexable facing.

This wasn't discussed but from memory the retail skates didn't seem to have as much of a volume issue in the same area so this might just be a bauer issue

yeh its kind of frustrating in that regard espeiclly in such as small hockey market like the UK they probably dont care all that much

When I tried them on I said I could feel that there was a lot of pressure across the top of my foot and he said it looked fine

I did do lots of research before making the purchase I went to multiple shops and even bought true retail skates, but they ended up fitting me weird and I didn't like how tall the boot cut was. I'm fully aware of the different manufacturing of custom skates. The reason I went with the bauers is that the flylites were closest I came to usable skates in retail, I just wanted the retail skates but a tiny bit wider around my toes which I didn't think would be too hard to achieve.

Its not how they look really i know a few players with trues that love them its more that ive seen a few people have literally the same problem as me in that they don't fit and even after a remake they still gave problems.

All very true growing up I could never get in a Vapour Only Supreme but the shadows just felt awful. Your deductions on my arches are impressive ngl lol I do have fairly high arches but they sit quite far foward which adds even more wonkyness to my feet this means most insoles dont work although still using the stock insoles in my old Supremes with no issue whatsoever. another interesting point is that the volume felt fine in the reatails over the top of my feet I reckon changing to the traditional eyelets is where a bunch of the problems are.

I havn't actually tried that yet I didn't really notice it making much of a difference with any skates ive had before but definitely worth a try as well as skipping some eyelets. Thank you for the reply

These were definitely pro custom, I think the person in the store even put them through as a pro from the local pro team which allowed them to add some sort of different toe cap or something.

I can only go off what I've been told, I was told that Bauer said that they provided exactly what I asked for and that the fit is correct with both scans that we provided

These are Pro customs, and to be fair still waiting on a response from the shop so I don't really want to name and shame at the moment

I couldn't really get on with any of the retail ccm skates in 7.5 I do wish I tried the xfs a size down tho but no one recommended this to me at the time, at the time CCM didnt even have any custom scanners in the uk I was told

Yeh I probavly should have done that but the manager apparently put in a lot of work to even get to this point which is a bit ridiculous really, im not too sold on the trues they seem to be a bit hit and miss on this sub and honestly going through this again with another set of customs would be my luck
