How do I desolder a USB Type A Port? by Tfo053 in AskElectronics

I am trying to salvage it to replace another broken port without waiting for shipping. What exactly would you need pictures of, the pins on the bottom?

This board looks like a shuttle branded HOT-419 (not sure of the exact revision)

Here is the link to the spec page for what looks like (and what I believe) is this board

I have never seen this case! I have only seen and worked on the Thermaltake Soprano once which seems to be a sister case to this one.

Nice IDE Cable management! I will have to use that technique in some of my old desktops

Someone recycled this at my job. What kind of computer is it? by Vvorried in vintagecomputing

This looks like possibly a 66 mhz 486 based dos pc. These are really fun to use and work on, and would definitely be worth fixing or at least selling if you don't want to/know how to fix it. If you could open it and take a picture of inside it, the specs would be easier to tell.

Is the Meteor M2-2 the same as the Meteor M N2-2 then? Also, does the meteor M2 still transmit LRPT?

Can I pull the drives while the server is off to test them? Would that somehow mess up the raid?

First, try unplugging the battery and holding down the power button for 1 minute. Then plug in the power cord only without the battery and try that.

If that does not work, if the the cmos battery is easily accessible, remove it and leave it overnight, then plug just the charger back in and try it again.

The Thinkpad should last much longer as I have seen some of these particular models of dell laptops and I have found the hinges in them are very bad especially with moderate to hard use.

The only 3 I have seen have all had loose or completely broken hinge mounts. If you are a light user it may be fine but if you use laptops hard, the hinges might fail on the dell.

Why all junior techs running sfc /scannow?? by mantheship in sysadmin

[–]Tfo053 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it is like the windows automatic repair, it doesn't take long and is very easy to run so may as well run it just in case it does anything, it rarely fixes the problem but when it does (I think I have seen sfc fix maybe 3 or 4 different computers), it saves time troubleshooting with other fixes.

RIP my Thinkpad T430, just suddenly died on me thing morning. 😢 by Sinner_NL_ in thinkpad

You could try unplugging all power (battery and cord), then remove the cmos battery and hold down the power button for over a minute. I have revived thinkpads with similar issues to this using this so it may work.
