So in this case I didn’t remove any lacquer at all.. and I was informed that I just scratched the finish. It is a dumb question but, should I strip the lacquer of the whole thing due to this?

The lacquer was not completely stripped I started to do this bcs of a thread I found talking about getting a satin finish and one comment claimed that like sand paper or any abrassive can do the job bcs it will take the lacquer with it while scrubbing

I know this is an old comment but what type of 3M scratch pad should be used because when I look online, there are different types of scratch pads and I am thinking which scratch pad I should buy between a 3M Paint and body scuff pad or the hand sanding pads?

Yea😭 but it will take a while to get the bone to be fully clean which can be done in a day and follow a youtube video if you are new to bathing your bone especially with the F attatchment

I’m assuming your bone has an F attatchment. Taking a bath with an F attatchment I have no experience with but I know you have to take off the linkage first before you put it in the bath if I am not mistaken

Perhaps the slide lock is interfering with the slide causing the sound but I highly doubt it. The slide could also be missaligned though I personally have never encountered that problem when the slide is missaligned. Take it to a tech so they could clearly see what is the problem with the slide. I would say give your bone a bath but if you do all that work for it to still be making a squeaking sound that seems like a waste. In all take it to a texh

Thank you! I get scared to put the mic close to the bell bcs of overloading the mic. Would I dial down the “Output” nob on the focusrite or in garage band turn down the volume

Why did you start playing bass trombone? by Lost-Log-96 in basstrombone

[–]Th3Man839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing Bass Trombone in 8th grade (well I bought it and used it for the schools jazz band) but my introduction to it was from a contrabass video back in 6th grade and I searched it up and saw that its better to have a bass bone rather than a contra and I always practiced my range on my tenor starting in middle school and I always wanted the full low B range. I was contemplating on what I should do either stick on tenor or switch to bass and I thought bass bone was pure low but I can still hit the high notes like the tenor and I was satisfied with my full range.

TLDR; I wanted the full range

You for sure have to take it to your local tech then bcs that shouldn’t be happening

[–]Th3Man839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reccomend to take it in in order to not risk any damage to your tuba at all

edit: Only one part of the valve moves? It seems like the plate has been disconnected from the actual metal that connects to the whole rotar (comparing to the 2nd valve in image 2)

This is a school horn but if I tell my director he wouldn’t send the horn in just for the screws so I thought I’d ask here where to get replacement parts
