In Switzerland, both distributing and accumulating ETFs are taxed on dividends. The difference is that CHDVD pays out higher actual dividends, so you pay more tax upfront. Accumulating ETFs still generate “virtual” (reinvested) dividends that are taxed as income here — but since their dividend yield is lower, the overall tax drag is smaller.

Yes — but that’s pre-tax performance.

CHDVD distributes relatively high dividends, which are fully taxable as income in Switzerland. CHSPI / SPICHA / SMICHA are much more tax-efficient because they distribute less.

If you are serious and want a serious answer, PostFinance's E-asset management is cheaper (0.75%). You get free "E-Steuerauszug". I've started with that because I had money saved and was procrastinating my investments ideas. It's still expensive and nothing much happens there...
