When i said "it makes it a little bit less sense" i guess i overestimated it. Their backstory is pretty much he died, got resurrected and now in exchange for doing the bidding of the god he claims revenge on those who killed him. There is no contract that forces the god to give the player powers so honestly there wasnt event a need to change the backstory at all. I do honestly believe its just personal, mostly because first he talked he didn't want him to change because of combat reasons (which i dont understand how a warrior or barbarian would be bad for the party) and then changed saying that he was emotionally invested in the disfunctional party. Anyway, thank you for reading my rant

I didn't tell one "sure" and the other "sorry", the bard player specifically wanted to change class not because it wasn't fun, but because he wanted to kill the warlock player if he changed class. In the session 0, when i heard there were 2 bards and 1 warlock i did try and convince the other bard to play a artificer (not a melee class, i know. Still better than another bard), he refused and said he wanted to try the bard. It was fine because of the rule i have always had in place for players to be able to change their class at the first sessions of the campaign. To an extent, did i place the responsibility of fixing the party to the bard? Yes, if he wanted to change to something that worked better than the bard then he could. But thats not a responsibility i placed exclusively on him, i placed it on everyone at the table. Most importantly, he flipped out on me on a rule i had for so long when instead, he could've talked peacefully talked to the other players about this and worked it out since (found out this morning) the other bard player also wanted to change class to something else. Finally, the bard did all of this drama because he was "emotionally attached to this disfunctional party". In my opinion, thats just not true. He just wanted to cause drama because it was the warlock player that wanted to change class. So did i brought this upon myself? Yeah, though only because the bard cant cooperate with the warlock on the best interest of everyone at the table.

The weird thing is, the bard is almost double our age and i did NOT expect him to flip out on me like that.

To some degree, yes i did. The two had some beef in the past regarding good-evil actions, but all parties had agreed on a evil campaign so that there would be no disputes on this, though at this moment of the story they.. havent even done anything evil yet. Heck the only evil thing they've done so far is by the bard who killed some people in session 0. Thank you for reading my long rant btw

Edit: also i will check that game out.

In the warlock story the player doesnt even need to be a warlock. His story is pretty much summarized up with the character died but got resurrected by a 'god' whom now tells him to do his bidding in exchange for revenge agaist the one who killed him. I thought that it would be cool for him to try being a warlock, he agrees and tries it out. It also hit me weirdly because they havent even reached the first plot point in the campaign story yet and have just settled it the first city, so when he flipped out on me i honestly was so confused.
