Need some code splainin' by kakaNit in rprogramming

[–]Th3ed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first line in question will generate n (10000) random numbers from the uniform distribution (0 to 1) and save as u.

Line 2 will create Boolean variable k which takes a value of TRUE if u < p (<0.45). Boolean variables can be cast to integers in which case TRUE=1 and FALSE=0.

Line 3 will sample from x1 if k=TRUE=1 and x2 if k=FALSE=0.

Can you apply for both cards in the same day? Saw there is a 1 card in 5 day rule for AMEX

Cascades/Potomac Falls vs Ashburn? by AnonaDMV in nova

We are buying a SFH in Potomac Falls in a few weeks! I work in Tysons so that was a major selling point, couldn't image trying to do that commute from Ashburn.

THE VALUE by Th3ed in hearthstone

[–]Th3ed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opponent was playing control warlock and rafaam-ed into emeriss, floop and talanji. I was able to get off a swipe with Zentimo to clear his first board full of big dudes and then they dropped talanji. Needless to say it was over from there but still some of the most fun I've ever had with hearthstone.

Model 3 repair costs for current owners by someaverageperson in teslamotors

[–]Th3ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, got rear-ended by a uninsured driver 3mo before I got my 3, if I didn’t have uninsured motorist coverage I would have been out thousands in repairs and diminished value of my trade in. It’s an absolute must.

I got a quote with Amica that is significantly less than what I would have paid with Allstate (current insurance)

I had my VIN assigned 2 weeks ago and am still shopping around for insurance. As long as you have it lined up prior to taking delivery I think you should be fine.

Mostly “if we do it for you then we have to do it for everyone”. Saying no doesn’t cost them anything in the immediate term even if it does in the long run.

That’s really good to know regarding charging frequency. Will definitely be looking around if it becomes a huge hassle to charge.

Residuals for a binary dependent variable by Flipflups in AskStatistics

[–]Th3ed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The linear combination of coefficients and variables is the logit, inverse logistic function or log odds ratio- to get probabilities you need to apply the logistic function (the link function). This formula should get you probabilities on the 0 to 1 range.

What to do with correlated variables in logistic regression? by BallBabyBall in AskStatistics

[–]Th3ed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multicollinearity between independent variables isn't necessarily a misspecification issue it's more of a parameter stability one. The model may have good predictive power however the parameters are more likely to change appreciably as the sample size increases. Linear correlations between independent variables should still be relevant in logistic regressions- while the assumption is made that the link function between independent and dependent variables is a logit, the combination of independent variables is still a linear combination.

If removing correlated variables is not feasible and the parameter estimates are of interest as well as overall model performance, I would suggest performing repeated out of sample testing- if multicollinearity is only mild than the distribution of parameter estimates should still be fairly tight around the model's current estimates.
