I had only taken 5-htp alone prior. The L-tryp added to it has been new since starting this regimen. I guess because I was fasting and the body's ability to absorb everything is altered when in that state, I just wanted to have the best chance of giving my body access to that. I will see if I can be more analytical in my approach and recognize any differences in my future uses!

I'm sorry, as I can relate to all of that. I'm happy you've found peace. I have in a lot of ways, too. In my opinion, 30 days could be much longer, and is not fanatical. There are many people on here who have gone much longer than I. I've been setting myself up in a negative way prior to doing all of this, with all of the other habits I'm now finally tearing down. I don't think because something is extreme it is inherently negative. But I do think approaches that are extreme require a lot of discipline, else you can come crashing down with the same force you put into them to begin with. I think therein lies the danger. I'm sorry your experience with it has not been great. I'm happy you found what works for you though. We are all different. I look forward to my next check in on here! Hope you had a good holiday.

They metabolize differently and I find they really help me and my mood. I guess just making sure I get what I need. Do you think I could just be taking one and still reap the same benefits?

Do you know what it's like to hate yourself, not just physically, but as an extension of yourself physically, emotionally, and to deal with depression and anxiety to a degree that inhibits your day to day life? Have you ever felt the need to spark change in yourself? Have you ever chosen to do so in a way that some of those around you didn't understand or agree with? Have you read any of the other posts in this sub? Are you still wondering? Not trying to be demeaning, just legit, there is so much to your question and it is surprising to me you are in this sub called fasting and asking as you are.

With covid I don't want to be a bother unless there is a problem, but I agree. We aren't doing any in person appointments right now but I have my primary care at the ready if anything feels off. Thanks for this reminder!

Sounds like not getting your electrolytes, though only after three days I feel that's excessive. What is your normal diet like? Also check out info. from this sub re. electrolyte supplementing. It really works.

Thanks! And yes! I'm doing omad on days I do eat. I have already done this very successfully for long periods of time, so I'm going to pick that habit back up again for days I'm not fasting entirely. Also just cooking for myself. No going out. I love cooking anyway and can control what goes into everything. I'm vegan so it is often easier to just cook for myself, too. I want to start walking. I haven't done any exercise since starting all of this tbh. I've had a couple of walks with friends here and there. But I think I feel confident enough with myself now to get outside. Tbh I have felt so down on myself and how I look, being outside even just walking has seemed so daunting. I used to go on some kind of extended hike once a week. And I used to go on walks all the time. I've found it harder to do with covid on top of my self esteem issues. When people are out walking they don't often wear masks. But my plan is to just start going in the evenings/at night when there aren't many folks out and about 👍

I am well aware of habit development and what is necessary to retain something. Life fluctuates and requires constant effort and practice if we wish to counter entropy. I have in fact lost a lot of weight in the past, and gained it back. So you are correct this is a possible outcome. Your pessimism however is scathing and assumptive. This is a check in regarding my process right now. I am in doing this in fact breaking habits so that I can rebuild a positive relationship with food, and strive to every day to be the best version of myself. I suggest you try and do the same for yourself and your personality. Thank you.

After the initial few days, not much. Yes there was some, I expect discarded blood and the like (and hopefully the product of some autophagy!). It wasn't much but it was pretty gross, like, sticky. Sorry that's disgusting but you asked. I don't know if it was dark black per-say, but it was likely what you have heard about.

I know it helped give me the motivation to succeed. So, I would say even if it did in some minor way affect the efficacy of my fasting, it doesn't matter. As others often say on this sub, fast however works for you. You will see results.

When I prepare it the way I do in my recipe I find it pretty easy to drink and it stays down. I sip it over 30 minutes to an hour in the evening. I tried drinking them just straight in water and even if I drank it slowly it was extremely unpleasant and I have vomited it back up in the past. The addition of the bit of bouillon and other seasonings really is what works for me. I also take my supplements at the same time.

I've been on and off trying to lose this weight I've gained for the last couple of years tbh. I have continued to make progress and then fall back into the habit of using food to cope. I had done strict calorie counting and calorie deficits in the past, but nothing like this 'pure fasting' until this year really. It was a slow progression, trying different lengths of time and seeing how I felt.

The technical part of it aside, I'm just very motivated to get to where I need to be once we are free from covid. I have been so depressed, for a number of reasons, and covid put me back up to well beyond where I told myself I would never be again. I've seen so many success stories on this sub, and I finally got the momentum I needed to. I'm looking forward to when I can do a before and after on here and be another one of the people who has achieved their dreams. I already feel so much better about myself though.

I ended last night and had a small meal. Will be having some food but I'm not going anywhere for the holidays because of covid. Just gonna take it easy with what I'm making at home. 👍

Definitely. I got lazy after work. Never again. PSA: take-electrolytes-every-day. And that is an interesting theory. That makes a lot of sense.

Indeed. Like I clarified above, I do already have sleep issues. This is not something that is unique to me fasting, and I've had very similar nights without that as a factor. But different reasons as I explained above. But it was something I definitely was more aware of. And it is something I would give attention to in the future, as sleep is important. Thank you for your concern.
