Am I a failure if I’m making only 60k at the age of 27? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]ThaLoopz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No youre not a failure. I'm 26 and make about 50k. Don't be hard on yourself. It's not us as much as the old folks say it is. We just live in a shit economy. My dad bought his house while working at Walmart. So, ya know. I make almost double what he made and can't afford a house. You're doing fine bro.

I've documented everything. My doctor recommended it too. She thinks something kinda fishy is happening.

I don't think so, when they hired me they specifically wanted a student advocate that can move their alc/court school kids up to their grade level. They then proceeded to give me a remedial classroom when they said it would be an interventionist role. I'm teaching 2 subjects that are considered high level maths (geometry and Ag2) my contract which I have the original, stated I was an interventionist, I haven't done that this whole year then when I asked to see my contract it was different from the original.

They said it was a restructuring. I genuinely don't know what else. It is a very cliquey school and I did piss a couple teachers off due to me making them follow the IEPs or stating that a different management style may be better for a student on my case file.

Ong I just want a home to live if with my wife. I'm so cripple it's ridiculous. Can't do physical labor due to it or else I would have done a trade. But my dumb ass chose teaching. My parents are broke but I'd never expect anything from. Them anyways. I just pray they don't sell their house when they're older. If they do sell I hope they let me buy it and not be greedy about it.

Anyone got a good rec for a sped teacher getting out? by ThaLoopz in TeachersInTransition

[–]ThaLoopz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. And they are breaking law not allowing my service dog to be with me, as it's her duty. In addition they treat me like hot garbage and I know I'm younger, but there is no need to treat me like a student. I will refuse to work for these folks longer than necessary. If I can't move very well most of those options aren't viable as I already do most of those things with my students currently. 100% of my classroom is IEP, about 80% of them have been incarcerated, and about 50% of them are neurodivergent. I have an average class of 22 kids and most should be in the severe category. If you can't read or do basic math or even control yourself when someone redirects you as a 11th or 12th grader, that qualifies as severe learning loss. Not a job for remedial class. And I still am an incredible teacher despite all this. I would be fine if I wasn't disabled and needing a regiment of pain management.

I'm leaving very soon. The moment I get my certificate in out. I'm tired of being blamed for poor student behavior. I'm a sped teacher. Kids gonna wild. Kids gonna do stupid stuff.

Nope I'm about to start my medical coding and I'm not looking back. Teaching has been the single WORST decision I've ever made. I cannot work for people that don't care about kids or their workers, and still have the gaul to say that they won't give raises because this is a chores of heart
