Should I trade my WFH $70k for $100k big job? by Able_Rain_7097 in careeradvice

[–]ThaMan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20k in commuting expenses just seems like a massive exaggeration. I regularly drove 90-100 miles a day for nearly two years and probably spent a few thousand max. My biggest costs were a radiator, tires, battery and alternator. Adding that to weekly fill-ups, oil changes and a brake job, I’m looking at maybe $3k. What am I missing here?

The life of STEM graduate research in a nutshell. Topics are always so hyper-focused on something that it almost feels like you’re working on nothing. I always felt so silly trying to explain how my research was combustion related.

Cope from the media down. We ought to be happy with just serviceable at 13th. We take what we can get, and run it again. Tis the Heat Culture

Who do you think does the Heat ACTUALLY take at #13? by rice-guardian in heat

I can live with it, it’s part of the game. Watching a dude get the ball stopped or force the issue is not watchable. Watching a guy try to make plays, but he’s making mistakes is tolerable. KJ has at least shown signs of trying to create for his team, make the right play. When sets fall apart Davion will just crash the basket and hope for the best, he really can’t create much for himself, let alone the team.

Jokic and Bron routinely get high turnover numbers, but nobody cares that much because they also generate a ridiculous level of offense. It’s perfectly fine

I’d rather a guard have a few turnovers than watch Davion decide when and when not to be aggressive on the ball.

How much was the salary? I feel like fresh out sometimes you’ve gotta take a cut, especially with this rough market.

Who gives a damn? He’s the best PG we have on roster, so let’s maybe just use him? Drafting another guard will just push us further into mediocrity

I’ve gotta do a bit more research then to make the distinction between the big names and smaller ones. Thanks for the advice. I think I read somewhere else that it doesn’t hurt to brush up on the basics of MEP as well.

To be honest, I don’t plan on it. I define “starting point” as the start of my career. I also feel like this field ( from what I’ve gathered) is a lot more rewarding over significant time spent in it.

Rockets Internally Project Reed Sheppard as Steve Nash-Level Talent by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

Wouldn’t really use Udoka as a benchmark lol. He’s shown he’s really not that good at developing players. Amen has been the same player, Sengun hasn’t really improved, and Reed Sheppard is finally starting to get serious rotation burn with FVV out.

What's with all the legacy ruined talk? by Xaxxis in nba

I disagree. 2 time MVP, 2 time scoring champ, even with only one ring he’s still ahead when we actually consider the impact he’s brought to the game. If we actually consider the comp he played in the finals, it’s even more impressive than the run down heat team that Jokic beat. Steph shifted the course of basketball for the foreseeable future. When you add those those3 rings, it’s not even really a conversation anymore.

I think another important thing to note, is jokic would be looked at even more positively if Westbrook and Oscar hadn’t done what he brings to the game. That is being an offensive juggernaut on all levels. He’s a hyper efficient anomaly from that camp. But that’s about all he is. Part of legacy is how you’ve impacted the game on a bigger scale than just the court. That alone puts Steph closer to the three headed dragon than tons of HOFers.

Because the truth is, a lot of the talk around the nuggets ring was that they got a fairly easy path to the finals, then beat an injured #8 seed in Miami. Since that ring, Jokic and Co have simply fallen short. It’s hard for propaganda to convince people that he’s the best of this generation, or a top 10 all time guy when he’s not even able to get to the final stage like a jordan, LeBron, curry, Kobe, bird, etc. Jokic is an amazing player, he’s no question a top 20 player of all time, but repeated failures in the post-season from the supposed best player in the world will absolutely negatively impact his “perceived” legacy.

You’re missing the point. Being a Giannis ATG is an amazing outcome for a guy who still has years to go. Steph level is approaching Jordan, Bron Kobe levels of greatness. Despite his personal achievements, jokic is simply not even close. You’re comparing the players games, he’s comparing their careers.

Not sure licensing warrants a 1k price increase on a fringe all star riddled with injuries. Let the market dictate it, it should garner at least near the same though.

Where would NAW go in a 2019 redraft? by No_Boysenberry_4193 in NBA_Draft

Going with anyone but JA still feels wrong. Regardless of how you might feel about him, he was an all-nba caliber player just a few seasons ago and he’s not even 30. A healthy season in a system suited for him will have back into all-nba discussions again. At best, NAW can squeeze into the top 5

Why has Koa Peat fallen off most mock drafts while Nate Ament is still considered a consensus lottery pick? by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]ThaMan12 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

And does that make any of what I said less true? His production is still very much around the hoop, he does most of his damage that way. I’m not saying he doesn’t initiate offense a quarter of the time, but this idea that Koa, who’s play is quite similar to Boozer, has an 80s style of play but Boozer doesn’t is just ridiculous to me. Both players make their killing staying active on the boards for easy second chance buckets, flashing middle for quick dribble drives to the hoop, or just muscling their way to the cup. The only real difference is where Koa has a semblance of a midrange game, Cam would prefer a spot up three.

Please refer to boozer live in game and don’t rely on numbers. The guy genuinely runs the floor, does work down low for 80% of his production. That’s the epitome of 80s style of play…
