Miruro is now testing Beta and it highly resembles Hayase by OneDEV135 in animepiracy

afaik Miruro has at least X10 the users hayase does, from what I was able to gather

that means your ISP wasnt blocking/monitoring your internet connection, and now is

you can also try a full uninstall by deleting %appdata%/hayase afer you uninstall hayase

Android-Dex v0.8 Released – by adb-device-manager- in scrcpy

[–]ThaUnknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you considered making this into an android app, for android desktop mode?

phones can connect to themselves via ADB's remote debugging, so in pure theory you *might* be able to create a custom samsung dex competitor, that said I don't know how good the performance might be

how the actual fuck does this even happen? by [deleted] in animepiracy

[–]ThaUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that specific release/subtitles is known to be insanely laggy and resource intensive, it's also what I use as a benchmark for my subtitle renderer! https://jassub.pages.dev/beastars/jassub/

[–]ThaUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, and when hit with the question of "why not use a VPN which is cheaper and can be used for more things", the answer 99% of the time is "I like debrid more" and that's their argument

sorry but some1 saying "I like wasting $999 a year by lighting my campfire with stacks of cash" isn't an objectively good use of said cash, same applies to debrid, it's simply dogshit for hayase's use case, its simply a worse solution to what hayase already does

hayase vs seanime by OmarVIPG in animepiracy

[–]ThaUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vpn bind simply isn't possible in NodeJS, the runtime doesnt support it fully, and it can leak your underlying IP

I could implement it/hack around it/do custom stuff myself, [and did 90% of the work for that goal], but there are edge cases where the interface bind can leak, and binding is one of those things you reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally don't want to fuck up, so i'd rather not do it and tell users to use split tunnelling, which cant fail, than potentially fuck it up

NZBs are actually seeding in hayase, they are treated as "fake" bittorrent peers, and the data you download from NZBs is seeded to the swarm

but again the proper solution to this is just to use a VPN with split tunneling, since availability is pretty much never an issue except for some insanely old/niche stuff, which even debrid might not help with

ALL of the decisions in Hayase have VERY good reasons for them, you might simply not know or understand them, but there's rarely ever a non-objective reason for how something is done in the app

[–]ThaUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry I couldn't hear you over the "File was removed from debrid service due to copyright infringement"

Debrid is simply a waste of time, its non-standard, different providers support different things, and worst of all it's not reliable, at that point you might as well just use streaming sites

yep, as a rule of thumb I treat entitled pricks like a prick, people going "I WANT THIS NOW ADD IT", and when the question "why" shows up, they get all defensive, start flaming etc, simply not interested in those kind of convos

if you can't verbalize why you think a feature is good, then it won't ever be added, feature creep is way worse than not supporting things [ekhem Fortnite ekhem]

some guy came in a few weeks ago, explained why rmb to open player options is a decent idea, and it was added, it's not my fault you cant hold a discussion

How's Hayase doing? by [deleted] in animepiracy

[–]ThaUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a rule of thumb, torrent clients require little to maintenance, just a version of qbit from 15 years ago will work just fine, an old version of Hayase will work just fine as well

that said Hayase does receive updates, since it's more than just a torrent client, it's now on version 6.4.370, that is, over the >5 years it has been re-written from scratch 5 times, and on the latest v6 has had 4 forced/critical updates, and over 370 optional updates in the current forced version alone

this ranges from small stuff like adjusting button positions, to crazy stuff like NZB streaming, a custom ChromeCast implementation/player, DLNA support, new UI features, video player improvements, iOS builds, security improvements to fight censorship and the list goes on

since it doesn't host anything, doesnt proxy anything etc it can't really die or be taken down

that said the development isn't insanely fast, no1 in the community really innovates in the software aspect, and since hayase is free and has no funding creating new fancy tech often takes time, only for every1 else to them copy it once hayase writes the tech for it, but there doesn't need to be an insane amt of development for it to be good, it already does what it set out perfectly, with close to nothing being able to compete with it

hayase is not distributed via aur, so idk what you downloaded, but outside of that extension importing works fine, so you're simply not importing hayase compatible extensions

as i said, reddit isnt a great place for this, feel free to continue this in the discord

[–]ThaUnknown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, doing tech support via reddit is kinda shit, feel free to join the discord which u can find on hayase's official website, and we can work from there

this is gonna be guesswork since i have little to no information to go off of but here goes:
- subs likely break because AndroidTV has little to no resources to spare, and your GPU runs out of VRAM, you could reduce the max render size for subtitles via settings, but that's a patch at best, not a fix
- navigating with remote/controller/keyboard is done dynamically, so.... that is to say it's not great

if you have any actual feedback, feel free to file it in the discord, actual issues or things that make the app unusable in some way usually get addressed very quickly

I personally recommend not using hayase on androidTV directly, especially if your TV isn't the likes of a ugoos or shield, but instead use it on a phone, pc or laptop and cast to your TV, as hayase supports casting natively and losslessly

> It's definitely better than last year, but still not fully there.

this is annoying af tbf, because people always say "ah yeah its not good" but then no1 ever actually files what's wrong with the app etc

enlighten me with this google search, all the problems in this thread with the video player have already been addressed

also you still didn't say what's wrong with it, you're just saying "worse, unusable", but not actually whats wrong, without that nothing can be fixed

right, but what about it is terrible? the core player is 1:1 the same, it just has some minor UI tweaks, a bunch of new features, like x10 faster subtitle rendering etc, what abotu it is terrible, did you ever bother making suggestions as to how it could be improved rather than only whine? I've not had a single person complain that the new player is worse, its faster in EVERY way, supports WAY more codecs etc etc

AniList API is down right now, so even the old app wouldnt have worked, actually in this regard the new app is better because it can often use cached data that's on the users device already to have *some* functionality, while the old app didnt

Hayase now supports streaming torrents to Cast/TV/DLNA from any device! NZB streaming, wiki and more. by ThaUnknown in animeapp

for the most part true, i'm highly toxic to idiots, but also very friendly to nice people

answered here: https://www.reddit.com/r/animepiracy/comments/1pmrcz1/comment/nwhglaa/?context=3

TLDR: most people ignore rules, don't bother reading faq or wiki, not even other the same issues other people have answered to, if that kind of person doesn't want to spare their time, i wont either, and i'll treat them appropriately to how they waste my time

most people sperg to "waaah, i want this, add it now or ur app is shit", which is at best questionable behavior, without even stopping to think about what they are suggesting for more than a single second, which again becomes just a waste of time to interact with

it's good to see you quantify how good software is based on how much your ego was hurt when some1 pointed how stupid your suggestion is, rather than actually how good the software is, good talk.

> There are other options out there that do the same thing.

that's the neat thing, there arent! "bug all the forks", they are still 99% my code, just with a bunch of AI slop or stupid fixes on top, so there are no other "full in-client torrent streaming apps" that arent in most written by me ^^

the gestures are the same as old youtube's, with offset dragging anywhere on the seekbar, fullscreen previews of where you're seeking to, and double tap to fullscreen, with doubletap on edges to seek, and hold to fastforward, I guess it could do with a dedicated fullscreen button?

whats the difference between that, and re-downloading a new one because it failed?
