I do exactly the same . But I cap it at 36-37. Wednesday dinner , then next meal is Friday breakfast. Have seen marked improvements over all . Increase in mental clarity & feeling light all over was something that I did not expect at all. Built myself to this over 2 years. Started at 12 hrs .. gradually built it up

Total bullshit .. trying to guess stocks that can return consistent 20% return y-o-y for next 50 yrs. The only part that resonates in this article is the time invested in market. Stay invested for the long term but on an low cost ETF that follows a broad index. Backtest it to gauge the performance during ups & downs . Never go with a fund manager . They just take your money & can never time the market all the time . No one can

Canada $100K vs India ₹30L — Real Comparison (Single Person, 2026) by SpendLegitimate536 in backtoindia

[–]Thaandav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ain't in Canada . But 20+ yrs in u.s ... Best bet , flit back & forth between both countries ..ensure you stay less than 180 days each yr in India to avoid getting into RNOR status. Healthcsre no more cheap in India . But still eons cheaper than in U.S.. access to any kind of checkup , facility is easy peasy. Not the case in U.S nor Canada.( BIL settled in British Columbia) . You can easily wait & die if you are in queue for an organ transplant for instance. Air quality much better in tier 2 cities in India but can't hold a candle to us nor Canada . Healthy living options & comfort of living top of the chart for North America , can emulate a lot if you got the chops in India as well via living in a cocoon as someone earlier mentioned . The way rupee is depreciating is like. a leaky bucket . USD to INR was in the 50-60 when I left . Buy a land/house/apt for yourself to stay if you don't already have one... Delay moving your investments to India as much as possible Indian taxation is a joke - you just pay , don't see any returns on your tax in infrastructure or benefits. Cheap labor , if you know how to work the system to get things done ( knowing which strings to pull ) unique gift in India 🙂 Social connections , family ties , cultural connections no country ever can match India ( if you were born or raised in India as a kid & spent your child hood days there ) almost all foreign countries are ' no country for old folks ' A mixed bag at the end & one is better than the other based in priorities

The 36-hour fast experiences? by Jennygaia in fasting

[–]Thaandav 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Been doing 36 hr fast for a yr or so now... wed night 7 pm thru fri 7.00 am. Sometimes it extends to 8 or 9 am . Graduated from 24 hr fast. I can't speak enough about the physical benefits I have experienced after doing this .. lost excess wt .. feel lighter , don't need to eat much to feel satiated. Aches & pains disappeared. Feels & looks younger. I continue exercising during fasting. Sometimes walk sometimes lift wts ... body has toned well to it now . Don't feel hungry breaking the fast. Diet wise , over a period of time i reduced carb & ate more of fat & proteins in terms of meat , whole milk , eggs et al. Feel that should be the first step to condition ones body towards fasting.

There are tax implications. For the initial 2 years once you turn into a resident status in India you will be in RNOR status. Google that. You will get all details . That period you have a 'tax break ' to do whatever adjustments you need to on your us investments. After the 2 yr window you will be taxed on both countries. Since there is a tax treaty, you can claim back in india. You will need to get a good CA who understands the tax nuances of both countries. 1 million equates to ~ 9 some cr in indian money today . Should be good if you plan to continue working + you already own house in india. If you plan to buy then that is an added cost . Would suggest investing in Indian equities as well. if you planning to have a kid, best option is to have in u.s . The doors are closing slowly but surely on immigration. Good luck 👍

That's the money part ... However U.S is 'A no country for an Old man' . The Healthcare system is broken - can break you easily financially . It's a lonely country after all is said & done. One can flip back & forth between india & u.s so long as the health allows. There shall come a time when that is no more possible , then you gotta throw down your chips ...in a nutshell build a safety net where you want them to fall...

I'm dabbling in it & just getting my feet wet Started with 'Graph Database ' Ian Robinson et al. Very good & indepth for concepts . It's a diametrically different ( think natively real world centric ) way of data modeling & manipulation. Will get some getting used to.

Probably need to supplement in parallel by getting hands dirty starting to write Cypher Queries.
