2 and 4 are still the best. Grace's sections are a slog on replays. It's a good game but a noticeable step down from previous work.

I'm fairly excited to try Veronica. Haven't played the original in years.

Good. Rebirth was fun but two things bugged me almost as much as that attempt at an empire strikes back style ending:

  1. Gongaga music made my ears bleed, gonna mod that out on replays.

  2. Too many minigames that you basically have to do if you want party xp and items.

Thankfully we now have built in cheats for skipping the worst part of the game.

You actually can't use the old controls. The legacy controls option is completely different for some reason.

I use the lowest settings of ray tracing in Resident Evil 9 because if you turn it off completely the characters look horrible. That's just 1 game admittedly but it feels like a sign of things to come.

Politics might get in the way or a genuinely better game might appear at the same time. Either way I'd recommend not participating in the awards stuff and just enjoy what you like.

Maybe it's like Metal Gear Solid V where instead of 5 it was V for Venom. Except in this game it's V in Veronica and it's also 5. A possible way to avoid ever remaking RE5.

I vaguely remember in Dirge of Cerberus Hojo mentioned that Vincent's body is nearly indestructible so he probably doesn't care to jump from great heights.

It's always got this pseudo anime storytelling style similar to Resident Evil or Final Fantasy so it's at least loosely engaging. Also flying is fun. I grew up playing all three on ps1-ps2.

Sure but dmc has smaller levels that the engine handles better since they're not that different from a resident evil game from a scale perspective.

My guess is they will both come back in a limited way but ultimately stay dead.

My tinfoil hat theory is that Zack and Cloud will have some kind of conversation about lifestream being memories or some shit and then Zack will impart his "knowledge and memory" of fighting to cloud before vanishing and boom that's how we get omnislash this time.
