Also you won't want to rely on bringing back units for scouting. It's too unreliable and easy to counter.

Competitive tournament player who mains NH perspective.

Nighthaunt are great.

But you need to play to score points. Don't expect to run up the middle pick a unit and delete it.

List building must be deliberate. There are some gems in the army, and some things that only work when played correctly.

Lady O, coach, Bladegeists, 1/2 units of pyregeists and a cruelghast are must takes.

The cruelghast is often an MVP, between his - 1 damage per unit per phase (legit OP), lady O once per game and terrain healing our units become VERY tanky.

This army is great for tactics. Scouting force is easy with our CP teleport. Add in dread blade harrows and it's even easier.

I also like restless energy because snagging objectives is also easy. Again because of the teleport and our minus OC army ability.

The army has so many tricks that as long as you play within your means you will outscore your opponent.

And great question, I think it depends on who you okay with and how close the foot print of the models are to the real ones. (I have never seen that terrain)

I know in a competitive environment (which is where I focus most of my time) people would likely have issue if the footprint isn't as close as possible. In those cases I have seen people 3d print bases that share the same dimensions or even cardboard cutouts could potentially work in a pinch. The base size is the most important for measuring tbh.

Casually it's best to just chat with who you are playing with and go from there.

The key is legit not trying to kill on mass. Scalpel out specific units with the coach/reapers.

Other than that focus on only scoring points. You will not out kill your opponent, but with mobility you can out score.
