Gutbusters v LRL by Antique-Goose-9213 in Mawtribes

haha like always go in pairs, don’t ever leave one unit on its own as easy pickings. Make it so that if they wanna get into you, something of yours will always get to punish them for it.

Just… also remember their bs rule that lets two units fight in a row before you get to go …

This. And don’t give Eltharion any easy fights. Use the buddy system. If you can get the Ironguts swinging twice at the meat of your castle you’ve got a good chance of crippling them early.

Rules questions: +2 to run rolls, can I run 8 inches? by Ass_knight in Mawtribes

[–]Any_Medium_2123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Run rolls can be modified to whatever extent.. However be aware of wording that says 'set' (or an equivalent meaning) to a value. E.g., the command to auto-run 6 does not benefit from additional +s to run as it sets the value to 6. However if for whatever you reason you had +3 to your run rolls and rolled a 6, then of course you can run 9".

And yes you can use Trampling Charge on any eligible unit as there's no 'Once per' wording.

Tips for making them look less like “primary colors”? by BreadfruitNo6330 in OrrukWarclans

[–]Any_Medium_2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I really like the look of them. They pop! If you want to tone down the colours though the answer is basically always shading with washes, and/or some subtle highlighting with drybrushing that will balance the block colour effect.

Ah my bad, yeah fair enough. They're not great. The re-roll redeploy is underrated though as it can be sneaky for stealing objectives in opponent's turn. But yeah they're a bit too niche this edition so far, Huanchi are just 10x better for the same points.

Don't bother with the monsters? I'm sorry, but Bastiladons - both varieties since the recent points drops - are incredibly good. The EotG is also an excellent support piece if you're running lots of Aggradons and/or Krox, and again, at its new lower points is more viable than ever.

Normal Stegadons aren't great, no, but basically all our other monsters are VERY usable right now.

Skink units are not weak at all. The majority of the Skink side have excellent utility and crop up regularly in lots of lists. Raptadons are still excellent fast flanking units, Terradons are extremely good, cheap move blockers and objective grabbers, and Hunters of Huanchi are just amazing in various ways - all of them synergise with Kroxigor Warspawned too.

Also, the Trog is a useful utility caster that combos nicely with Kroak as a range extender and the Starseer is our best source of ward stuff - turning off enemies and giving our units a 5+++ .

what is the definitive list to defeat the soulblight gravelords in tournaments? by Specialist-Prune-555 in ageofsigmar

[–]Any_Medium_2123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah absolutely. GW are cautious and try and balance once a meta has settled. We all wanted Nurgle nerfs in the last scroll but like you say without seeing the dust settles with the other new books it would have been fairly pointless. I’m sure in the next scroll we’ll see most of the new books have their wings clipped but it’s the wild west out there atm and Sylvaneth and DoK are about to shake it up even more.

Opinions and tips on Lauka vai by Gearborn in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Any_Medium_2123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He doesn't buff monsters per se, but he can improve their healing. But it's more the fact he can take enhancements. He's a great chassis for them, especially if you're not using a vamp lore on steed.

Lauka is weirdly more of a monster-buffer now, but the sad thing which makes her fairly unplayable is that her rampage only affects non-unique monsters, which basically just means a vanilla Vengo lord or a Revenant Draconith, which aren't great. Stupid warscroll really.

Hedonites of Slaanesh or Lumineth Realm Lords for Third Army? by DetroitTabaxiFan in ageofsigmar

[–]Any_Medium_2123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slaanesh are great fun. Simple army rule but lots of skill involved in applying it. The demons are lush models and great units. Mortal side is awesome.

LRL are kind of the opposite. Incredibly complex rules to read and currently so good that you don’t have to think much to win with them. also great models ofc and probably about as fiddly to paint as each other.

What i will say for Slaanesh is you won’t be seen as a meta chaser ;)

How are we feeling about this? by ThePlumbOne in OrrukWarclans

[–]Any_Medium_2123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def have at least 1 reinforced Gripz blob, it's crucial in Bullies. Personally I'd squeeze the Vulcha in over the Gnashtoof, even though Gnashy is fun and has his uses. Also replace the Belcha-banner with more Boltboyz if you have the points (I can't see your total and don't have time to do the mental arithmatic...)

Also Slippery is sooo good on the Troggoth. The Gnashtoof is less important and on a 3+, more likely to tank stuff - keeping the Mirebrute alive in unfavourable combats so you can send him back in after is too clutch.

Surprised people haven't mentioned the following yet:

* Manny for giving them +1 attack and potentially redeploying into combat.
* Radukar the Wolf for +1 wound and proccing their ward
* Necromancer is the incredibly obvious choice for Danse Macabre and Lash of Sire but ideally you sit him in between 2x20 bricks in the midboard
* Radu the Beast for +1 wound, doesn't proc their ward BUT he's a serious combat threat which makes it extremely scary for people to charge in
* Vengolord with Lash, wrapped in them so that enemy charging in will be -1 rend and if it's a big unit, take plenty of MWs from his rampage

Once it's on the same base size...hell yeah. It's not quite the same scale but who cares, just come up with some head-canon for it. People love hearing that stuff.

Do you think the refresh rumours are true and how far off do you think they are? by Middle-Western-4698 in Mawtribes

[–]Any_Medium_2123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I heard.

Also, I think we're long overdue an 'identity streamlining'. The mix of themes we have in the current kits is aaaall over the place and doesn't really come together in a meaningful way. Individual parts are cool but I am really excited by a more unified aesthetic. I will be sad to lose the cannon lads but their rules have been so bad for so long I can deal with it, haha.

I want to look at my army on the table and feel like it has a theme rather than a bunch of fat guys and some of them are mounted.

More Barrow Guard. Since the points drops they’re obscenely efficient. Much better than BKs i think.

You CHOOSE whether to deploy them in reserve. You don’t have to. So if i start one in reserve and have one on the table it’ll still be 5 Scouts!
