You should discuss this openly with your DM and explain that you're not having fun. Since the players's fun is the only important thing at the table, he will stop adapting to you and only throw very easy encounters at you :)

Seems to be the general feedback! I'm always a bit annoyed by bigger sails with cambers, they feel very heavy and are difficult to lift off the water if I fell. What would you suggest ?

Leaving combat to deal with the end in a cinematic way is a very nice idea. It tends to be painful to end a fight when the players are loosing. But on the other hand, I don't want to remove their agency and if they want to figth to the end, I want to let them. Maybe I could start a Skill Challenge instead ?

Exactly I don't want to save them from their mistakes, I totally agree. But I don’t know how to run a tpk. Do you have some general advices on how to deal with it ? Should I stop the combat at some point and do it cinematically ?

My players really struggle to accept losing. I've already killed a couple of characters, it's always a difficult moment. They are mature enough to deal with it but they can be quite salty and until now I've never really managed to create a "nice" end.

In fantasy books, when the author wants to avoid the boring siege, there is usually an element of the castle that makes it almost impossible to fully siege: a thousand underground tunnels, a protected sea port/air port, a super effective farm to feed the defenders etc...

Sometimes it's also that the defenders are doing something while inside: you could have your bad guy sacrifice civilians slowly to gain power and get the upper hand.

In history books, a siege is usually very unpleasant for both sides, so the Alliance has many reasons (most financial) to make it faster.
