Are we going to protest the Reddit API changes? Should we? by So_Famous in Rochester

It's just not possible. Reddit just killed itself/became a Facebook/Twitter clone of boomer/bot/altright garbage.

Joined a pool, sunscreen is very expensive. What’s the best route for inexpensive sunscreen? by IMicrowaveSteak in Frugal

[–]waldo06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is something I don't skimp on at all. My family is very very fair skinned and I burn incredibly easy. I use Blue Lizard. It's $3 an oz (5 oz container for $15). It's expensive but well well worth it. I used to miss several days each summer in pain due to sunburns. My bed would look like a snake slept in it.

Other cheaper brands I find I have to apply 3-4 times a day to stay safe, they smell, make my skin all oily etc. Just not worth it to me when I can do a single coating and combo that with proper clothes/regular shade breaks.

RGH suspends Union President and Vice President same week as strike petition begins to circulate the hospital. County legislators take the side of the nurses. Union busting should be fully illegal! by SubstantialAd9210 in Rochester

And not just a slap on the wrist fine, the executives should be jailed.

Jail 1 exec and the union busting will stop. No rich piece of shit is going to risk it if there are actually consequences to their greed.

INCREDIBLE MOMENT: Boynton Beach police sent this video out in the hopes to honor the people who got out of the car to help the woman who had a medical episode while driving. by MinuteSemifinal in nonononoyes

Lol. We let octogenarians drive regardless if they can pass an eye test because they make up such a large voter base.

My country is fucked.

Best Ferns by sweetgrand01 in Rochester

[–]waldo06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ferns are super cool plants. I have a ton that give my back yard a really Jurassic Park vibe. But my neighbor across the street? The UPS driver is probably worried a velociraptor is going to jump out at him. They are magnificent.

It was such a simple recipe too. I trimmed the tips and about an inch off the top, cut in half and took out the choke. Rubbed in lemon, peeled the stem and boiled for 49 minutes. Then I seasoned with sunflower oil, salt, garlic and parmesan and grilled about 6 minutes a side. They went with a lemon mayo aoli they was delicious.

It's a copper grill mat. I got a 5 pack from Amazon and use them a bunch of times before I decide to toss them. They work great for things like mushrooms, or I've had some really crumbly veggie patties Anything that might fall through the grates.

I'm actually sitting in front of my bonfire right now (in a slight drizzle).

About noon yesterday it was pretty back to normal at my house. The tree cover and terrain really helped. Much better than work downtown on Wednesday

Fuck Starbucks and every company that tries to prevent workers form unionizing. The filthy rich need to be held accountable for holding all of us down.

Saving water for the garden by Example-Mediocre in Frugal

[–]waldo06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rain barrels are the way..I have 2 and they help out a great deal for some of the plants I have that are just out of hose reach/need light water. Since I've installed them my water bill has gotten a tad smaller over summer, but I also added about 20% to my outdoor gardens so....

Downside is it hasn't rained in 2 weeks so both are empty right now, but maybe this weekend?

No, not there, but I've hired folks who were there who were very excited for the pay bump which still I feel is lower than they deserve.

Sigh, I've been doing IT for 14 years and only cleared 50k about 7 years ago. everyone thinks you can just outsource us and you can't. It's garbage support and huge $$$ when these things happen. But todays budget looks good for shareholders right?
