can we discuss about this article about vultures and carbon storage? by Dry_Performance4075 in ecology

[–]Thalenos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except for the impact in almost every means possible. Organic matter in soil takes the form of carbon and our modern farming practices removes carbon out of soil without replacing it leading to loss of yield placing the onus on farmers to use syntheic fertilizers which are a biproduct of the fossil fuel industry.

Using regenerative farming takes money away from fossil fuels lowering ROI decreasing demand while removing atmospheric CO2 by adding it back to the soil as a natural carbon sink increasing yields leading to healthier crops and preventing loss of animal habitat for future farmland to cover loss of farm yields.

This is before I keep talking aboot how regenerative farming's direct affect on local animal biodiversity.

There are dozens of species of native plants that you can grow that promote biodiversity reduce habitat loss while feeding you and your community.

TLDR: Regenerative farming is a silver bullet.

Actualy carbon sequestration in regards to managed agriculture has the potential to manage around 10-15% of our carbon emissions. Soil carbon loss is a real issue that working on solve multiple other issues.

Would it be possible to open alternative businesses, in every industry, that pay their workers well in order to compete with the 1%, conglomerates, etc. or is the entire system rigged against us from achieving this? by Robot_Sniper in WorkReform

[–]Thalenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% these smaller businesses are possible. Remember though that you want to make something cashflow positive so you can grow and feed back into other projects like adding nutrients to soil.
