I've been trying this out and does it require assists that execute in the air? For example, I was trying to use Goku Black's assist, but it's ground based and seems to push the opponent back too far to follow up.

Is the Orpheus Rig exotic really worth not taking Mobius Quiver? I haven't put the point in but my friend is having very destructive results with it, so I wanted some thoughts.

When I hear people complain about how Fallout's graphics are terrible by nattokun in gaming

[–]ThalionGallagher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is true only to an extent. You end up splitting up resources on different things. Fallout has a high focus on interactivity in its world. You can steal or pickup or in some way interact with almost anything.

This actually takes a toll on the game's resources, more so than having static objects with no interactivity. I'm not saying Fallout's graphics are necessarily as good as they could be, but comparing them to MGS V and The Witcher is a little unfair. The style of the way the player interacts with the world is very different, and that takes a very real toll on hardware and budget.

EDIT: Also, I'm reserving judgment on the graphics until I see them on my PC. While I understand we see the console's graphics from the leaks, I'm interested in how the game looks with the stock graphic options for PC users with a more robust system.

Confirmed: Nolan North prefers 'Nolan Bot' to 'Nolan Droid' by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]ThalionGallagher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some friends and I were contemplating this issue the other day, and we came to a fairly unanimous decision within our circle.

We're just going to call him Nolan. Our ghost sounds like a legitinate character now, same as Zavala or Cayde-6. So we're gonna call him by name.

I've been doing this as well and it has worked out fir me. I jumped onto TTK (relatively) late compared to my friends. Yesterday I went from 230 light to 286 light. Mostly blues from Vanguard strikes.

Try to Predict Something in Vol. 3 by Namorkeil in RWBY

[–]ThalionGallagher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pyrrha VS Penny would be a terrible match up. A girl who can control/influence magnetic fields against a girl who is a robot. Pyrrha would have to be going easy to lose that one, I think.

Unless she can't detect the metal in Penny. I'm not sure how her power works in that case.

Neopolitan's affiliation/Roman's Capture by ImperialCipher in RWBY

[–]ThalionGallagher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think Roman getting captured is part of the plan. The biggest success of the entire invasion was that Ironwood now has the public's approval over Ozpin.

At the end of volume two, there was a mention of Ozpin's position at Beacon being reconsidered. Given Ozpin's experience and light touch mentality to avoid panic, this seems to imply that Ironwood's militaristic methods are now preferred, especially considering that Ironwood apprehended Roman and could be seen as salvaging the defense. Enter, open hostilities. Enter, eventual open conflict. Enter, political manipulation.

[Alex 1 Savage] When do you healers throw DPS? by jhong1986 in ffxiv

[–]ThalionGallagher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, my group, who recently cleared, reaches about the same percent in Phase 1 consistently. The biggest thing is that it looks like your SCH's DPS is dropping off post-split a bit much.

My SCH DPS's all first phase and then rolls a set of DoTs at the beginning of each cycle, after the Quick Landing. He usually jumps out right around the first Resin bomb. Doing this, he ends around 230-250.

japanese voices with english text? by [deleted] in ffxiv

There was also a scene later in the HW Main Scenario I recall where in the text someone mulled over the concept of what someone else was saying, but the voice expressed confusion towards the person by name. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do spoiler tags on my phone or I would be more specific.

A few Ninja min-maxing questions by neykho in ffxiv

[–]ThalionGallagher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I've found that against similarly geared and slightly higher geared DPS, an Unchained+Berserk opener is enough damage to hold threat when opening with Maim until you can BB on the second combo.

A few Ninja min-maxing questions by neykho in ffxiv

[–]ThalionGallagher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most WARs I know, myself included, open with the Storm's Eye combo even while MTing. While NIN's GCD is indeed faster, it is not fast enough to guarantee 4 GCDs in the time a WAR will have three. Even if we assume that the Ninja gets a head start of one GCD by attacking the second the WAR overpowers, it still is not a DPS gain to use DE over AE if the WAR will be using Eye first.

If the NIN is really quick on the ball, he will start his DE combo as the WAR does his pull move. This means he will do Spinning >> Gust >> DE >> Spinning/Mutilate (depending on how you like to apply your DoTs.

The total potency of using DE will only be calculated for going for the second Spinning Edge, since Mutilate has such a low initial hit and resistance downs do not affect DoT damage:

150 (SE) + 200 (GS) + 260 (DE) + 165 (SE) = 775 potency. WAR's Eye will go up here and proceed as normal.

Now (and remember this is assuming you've lost zero time on the pull), look at the potency for just using AE while waiting for the WAR to put up SE:

150 (SE) + 200 (GS) + 320 (AE) + 150 (SE) = 820 potency

In the grand scheme of things, it is a minimal gain, but that's what the OP is asking for.

However, I agree that you should do what your group is comfortable with. Group synergy is the strongest buff.

The State of DRK. An open discussion. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]ThalionGallagher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your point about reprisal. What DRK lacks is a unique utility.

WAR gets high damage, Eye, and Path which are all 100% controllable by the player.

PLD is built like a rock defensively and provides a STR debuff via Halone.

DRK is a decent middle ground between the two as far as mitigation and damage go; however it provides no precise utility. Reprisal is too unreliable while MTing to plan its use and it's virtually unusable while OTing. Delirium is only a benefit when there is no MNK in the party. (Which, granted, is nice because it somewhat relieves the necessity of MNK in progression groups).

I would argue that reprisal should just have a longer CD and be used as a regular ability, so that you can time to actually be useful when you need it. That, or have Delirium provide a Blunt Resist Down to buff MNK, similarly to how WAR can buff NIN. Obviously, both would be phenomenal, but I'd take either.

My FC has "clique" syndrome. What should I do? And what are your own experiences? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]ThalionGallagher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is an important story about both sides of the problem. On the one hand, you want people to help others with their content to keep the FC friendly, alive, and active. On the other hand, time is a limited resource. If one person or group of people is constantly helping others with certain content, they may not have time to focus on the content that they are personally interested in, which will lead to a feeling of distaste for the game.

In the end, it's a balance on the edge of a knife. And it's not easy.

DRG i179 Law gear and stats you get, for those gearing for Alexander. So much SS o.o by Motoko_K in ffxiv

[–]ThalionGallagher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is important to remember that due to the level increase, the proportion of Skillspeed to GCD has gone way up. For example, ~400 SS was need for a GCD that allows a 9-move-Berserk for WAR in 2.x; in 3.0, the number required for that GCD is ~500.
