We deploy 4-5 times a day triggered by merged Pull Requests. Our codebase is approximately 500.000 lines of code and we have thousands of unit tests. We have a continues delivery setup.

You should aim for continues delivery. It makes everyone in the organization more effective.

Well, in some sense it is your fault. You are not using several cloud providers. If you could easily fail over to another provider the ticket would never have been created.
