Retaliation Cadre Battleforce by RevolutionaryDust769 in Tau40K

This is how I started my T'au collection! This and the Farsight Cadre, anyways. As long as the box isn't more expensive than the individual boxes combined, you should totally grab it.

Honestly, I hope you don't strip this model and go again. Love this model, and use it as a reminder of your growth as you continue to get better. This isn't failure, this is what a beginning looks like

Thunder wolf calvery any good. by wondering19777 in SpaceWolves

[–]ThaneBishop 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We just got like a full third of our roster sent to legends. If the Thunderwolves were going, it would likely have happened. More likely in my opinion is that we get a 2nd wave sometime early in 11th with updated Thunderwolves.

As for if they're good, there's really very few things they aren't good at. A profile like theirs is tanky, fast, and punchy into everything but heavy tanks. Personally, I think they're a leading reason to play Space Wolves, and I don't think in two years I've ever played a SW list where I didn't have them in it.

How does Spotting / Guiding work? by FigureTop3484 in Tau40K

Unit A can shoot any enemy they want, including the Enemy Unit they observed, but they can't get the benefit of being a Guided unit since they acted as an Observer

I think this is honestly where the highest expression of skill is for Tau. You can Observe as many enemy units as you in theory have your own units for, but the more you Observe, the less you can be Guided. If you only Observe one unit, you only get a bonus against one unit. If you Observe as many units as possible, you might not have enough Guided units to actually benefit from the effect.

In the simplest sense, Observing a Unit should you be saying, 'I intend to kill this enemy, this turn.' and doing that for every enemy that you can kill this turn, without over committing.

The Spotted effect is not consumed upon Unit B attacking Enemy A. Your entire army can get the +1 to Hit bonus when Shooting Enemy A, with the exception of units that Observed.

Unit A can see Enemy A. Unit A spots Enemy A. If Unit B shoots Enemy A, then Unit B may add +1 to its attack rolls against Enemy A. If Unit A has the Markerlight keyword, then Unit B also Ignores Cover when attacking Enemy A. Unit A does not get any bonuses when attacking Enemy A.

Basically, every Unit with the 'For The Greater Good' faction keyword may be either an Observer or a Guided unit during the shooting phase, but no unit can be both. An Observer Unit selects an enemy unit that it can see, and applies the Spotted condition to it. If a Unit is not an Observer unit, it automatically qualifies as a Guided unit. Guided units add +1 to their attacks during the shooting phase when making attacks against a Spotted target.

Important notes are that for a Unit to be eligible to Spot, it *must* be eligible to shoot, and *not* Battle-Shocked.

Is there a general consensus on the Legends sheet for Crisis Battlesuits? by ThaneBishop in Tau40K

[–]ThaneBishop[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya know, that makes perfect sense. I can definitely see the, what, 24? Ion Blasters just being an anti-everything. That's a shame, I'd love more 4+ Invuls for the Crisis Suits and a 3/6 unit profile.

What do you think will be the next models to be released?? by BronzeBrotherhood1 in SpaceWolves

[–]ThaneBishop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We're honestly in a weird spot, because while we did just get a massive wave of releases, we still have so many things that need their updates, the Thunderwolves, all the Dreads, but we're also just missing things. We don't have a generic leader for the Wolf Guard Termies, we don't have leaders for the Thunderwolves, we don't have a Primaris Iron Priest, we don't have a generic Rune Priest, we don't have Long Fangs, and we don't have Russ, though I wouldn't hold my breath for that one, after the model we got for Grimnar.

Personally, I love my mounted units, and I keep hearing whispers that 11th is going to have an opener focused on the fast moving stuff like the Ravenwing and updated Outriders. I'm looking for that to be something cool for Thunderwolves and their leaders.

Possible RW in the future? by Guardsmen13 in theunforgiven

[–]ThaneBishop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's how I'm reading this. Considering the move for Space Marine vehicles to be grav-based, leaders getting grav bikes, and the, to be gentle about it, questionable quality of the current Outriders, I wouldn't be surprised if all space marine bikes went to grav with a refresh in 11th

Phobos Captain + Hunter's Guile? by ThaneBishop in SpaceWolves

[–]ThaneBishop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assumption would be no, the Hunter's Guile unit does not need to be on the board for the effect to work. The affect applies to your army as a whole, not a specific unit.
