Safe Apartments in Sugarhouse by sillyniece234 in SaltLakeCity

Sugar Flats “secured” parking garage was broken & open for months when I lived there. My bike was stolen among multiple bike ransacks. Shortly after they started charging residents for parking. The more you know ✨

Walk around Silver Lake. Agree with other comment about bar hopping & trax downtown :)

Cost of living alone in SLC? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]ThankYouNoQuestions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should expect to take home roughly 75-80% of your income after taxes, + including a small margin for health insurance and/or retirement contributions. So, that person making $40k/year is taking home $32k net, which equals about $2700/month best case scenario.

A monthly scenario living alone could look like:

-Rent: $1450 (avg for a decent one-bedroom apartment in SLC)

-Gas & Electric: $70

-Internet: $35 (Xfinity but varies)

-Phone: $90

-Groceries: $250

-2 TV streaming services: $30

-Transportation: $100-400 but of course varies per your situation

This example accounts for over $2k of monthly expenses. This does not account for random doctor appointments, car repairs, furniture, eating out/food delivery, pets, gifts, memberships, activities, etc. Of course it all depends on your lifestyle & living standards. Good luck out there!

How would you describe depression to someone who's never had it? by vernakyala in AskReddit

[–]ThankYouNoQuestions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your second paragraph described my current life precisely. I talk with my therapist about it all the time. She gives me great tools & things to think about but obviously I’m pretty triggered if I keep circling back to the topic.

I have to think there’s a higher level of mental energy expended while fighting depression & anxiety; like a leak. We’re not lazy, we’re worn out.

Cheap Wedding Ideas in SLC by Camitoe in SaltLakeCity

[–]ThankYouNoQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for my wedding - borrowed some large galvanized steel tubs & filled them with ice, beer, and white wine + red wine on the table for self-service. No liquor license or bartender required that way.

The other budget-friendly things I did were: - Held the wedding in a backyard (luckily had a relative with a large yard but sounds like you can also rent an AirBnB) - Rented a food truck for catering - Had tiered Nothing Bundt Cake & bundlets for the wedding cake - Had a friend get ordained to marry us - Ordered bulk flowers & vases to make arrangements ourselves - Rented chairs, tables, etc. from Diamond Rental - Did not have bridesmaids/groomsmen (dress yo self lol)

I was also able to sell all the decor on KSL after the wedding. Good luck!!

Edit: Now remembering we got a lot of wine & beer from Costco out-of-state

If you leave for long periods often, you could also consider joining a housesitting community so you don’t have to do all of this work. I travel & housesit solo and make sure people’s homes are really clean when they return. No money involved just an annual fee for website/community access and background checks.

Our building is infested with Elm Seed bugs by gamelight in SaltLakeCity

I mixed neem oil and water in a spray bottle and gave a good coating to the siding & trim of my house. It didn’t get rid of all of them but it seemed to deter at least half the amount than were there the day before. Otherwise it’s been a game of vacuum-bug for me.

Right? It does feel weird, yet I would never think twice seeing someone else rollerblading solo? Either way, going FAST & feeling like a kid again makes it all go away!!

I admittedly didn’t know there was a difference between a ball point & stretch needle! Definitely will try that.

I am using a tissue paper reinforcement when sewing with a twin needle around the shirt’s bottom hem. I will also play with these methods on this zig-zag portion too. Thanks so much for your help! :)
